"in the heart of San Francisco"
my five-night stay at Chancellor has been a very positive experience. It is located in Powell Street, about 30 metres from Union Square. Therefore, it is very close to shops, including Macy's and Saks, restaurants, cafes, including Starbucks and Walgreen, theatres, other hotels, and whatever you may need. Moreover, and probably even more important for tourists, many bus stops and a metro/BART station are within a short walking distance. This allows easily reaching many of the main city attractions. The BART station (Powell Street) can be used to reach the hotel when arriving from the airport at a reasonable cost. Unfortunately in this area you can see many homeless people, yet they simply ask for a little help, and never have I felt myself to be in danger, be it daytime or nighttime. The rooms are a bit small, yet they are equipped with all is needed. Also wifi is freely available in rooms, and works quite well. I found the bed comfortable, and enjoyed a small lumber-room to store my pieces of luggage and my clothes. I read some other guests suffered from noise coming from the neighbouring rooms, actually I didn't experience this kind of problem. A safe in present in each room. All the staff people are very friendly and helpful.
