The Horrible Belfort Hotel

The best part of our visit to the Belfort was not staying there. Smoke filled reception area, unsanitary lobby, one reserved room didn't have hot water. Were promised wifi in rooms; only available in smoke filled lobby.They don't deserve a 1/2 star. Barely acceptably as a youth hostel.

Posizione: it is pretty far from the city attractions but there is a tram station right outside of the hotel.

It is no way a 3 Stars hotel

The webpage of this hotel cheats: there is no wifi, except for the recepción, no hairdryers, no coffee machine. Moreover, halls are dirty, with old stained rugs, and a strong and unpleasant smell in all the area and the rooms. They give you the card to open the door from the previous guest and do not reset them. It should be rated as 1 star at the most. The drain of the showers does not work and after o couple of minures the water in your feet covers your ankles.

Not somewhere to relax for a break.

I pro: close to the tram
Posizione: An excellent Indonesian take away restaurant few minutes away. Fantastic food.
First port of call: receptionist was not friendly, no smile or greeting. even for a 3* the room could have been better decorated. The reception poorly maintained probably;y reflect the attitudes of the receptionist.i.e lack of training. The bar/dining room has not been painted since the day smoking was banned in eating areas. Yellow tobacco stains still visible on the walls and the collage of days-gone-by pictures is a reminder of when the room was last decorated. Final comment: if you want somewhere to sleep i.e check in at 21.00 hours and check out at 08.00am that is fine. If you are looking for somewhere to relax and take it easy, I am sure there are plenty of other places to look for.

Belfort Hotel September 2012

The room was small. The maid forgot to stock towels in the rooms beforehand. My biggest concern was the security of the room due to the design of the hotel room locks. I believe the locks could be easily picked open. The hotel kept our luggage in a secure location while we checked out early the next morning to see the sights of Amsterdam downtown again. The walls appear to be paper thin too. Noise from the traffic easily entered the room. Several sirens during the night and general volume of traffic made the stay annoying. The morning breakfast was good, lots of choices. It was well appreciated. The staff helped with information about trams and it was very good.
