“I would like to call it my local - should I go back, then this is definitely my hotel. I loved it!”
Upon my arrival, on a windswept rainy day, I was delighted to see the wonderful Christmas decorations. The large tree, placed beside the wide staircase, and opposite - a welcoming log fire,it was such a delight to see. Later on, when I went to the drawing room for afternoon tea, there was another Christmas tree, beautifully decorated. In the reading room they had placed another tree and, although there were less decorations - it complimented the room perfectly. My visitors who came to see me throughout my stay - loved the festive grandour of the Manor. Upon my arrival, the receptionist took me up to see the room. It was lovely. My window overlooked the front of the Manor, and at night the city lights looked like fairy-town. Having invited numerous friends for meals, throughout my stay - I dined there at various times throughout the day. We had lunch in Perrots Bistro; very good and attentive service. Late afternoon in the bar, we had delicious soups, light snacks and a large pot of coffee. which warmed us through. One evening - we were a large group, we had a fantastic meal, a truly grand dinner in the Oyster restaurant. Wonderful! Knowing that I needed plenty of fuel for the long journey ahead, I decided to have a full Irish breakfast. Served in the lovely Oyster restaurant, it was very busy, and yet it still felt intimate and relaxed. I checked out, waiting in the cosy chair, beside the warm log fire, for my driver to arrive.
“Fantastic Place To Stay”
Fantastic location in Cork City and a truely beautiful hotel. One of the nicest places I've had the pleasure of visiting. Staff treated us like old friends and made us feel extremely welcome. If we ever return to Ireland, this is where we will stay.
“Irish elegance”
We were delighted with the hospitality and true Irish elegance of the Hayfield Manor Hotel. The staff made us feel like royalty and our room was beautifully detailed. The hotel is nestled within a charming, quiet neighborhood but within a quick taxi ride to downtown. While the food in the Orchid was very good, it was a bit over-priced.
“Best hotel I've ever stayed in”
We had a wonderful stay at Hayfield Manor and would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful and we were made to feel extremely welcome throughout our stay. Could not fault the service or the hotel in any way. Loved it !
“Brilliant”
Not the best location, and some slightly substandard features for a 5 star hotel, eg plastic bath and no separate shower, ie shower in bath. But the hotel was extremely comfortable and the food was magnificent. Usually hotel food is either dreadful or frightfully expensive. We did not try the Orchids restaurant, but dinner in the bistro was absolutely delicious, good wines, excellent service. As good as I have had in a long time. Service too was excellent, although the garrulous, (kissed the Blarney Stone) concierge was a bit OTT. Overall we had a fantastic weekend in Ireland and the HAyfield Manor provided an excellent fulcrum to our stay. Thoroughly recommend.
“Unbelievable Experience”
This is a classic hotel with five star features and amenities that would compete anywhere on the continent. As a business traveller from Canada you couldn't ask for more: personal attention, out of the way location near the Uni but not too far from the downtown core or the Airport. Meeting space was excellent with high tech features that made our meeting an efficient experience. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and the small treats, morning coffee and quaint areas such as the drawing room and library all add to the hotel's character. Fine dining and a better than average wine list are also available as were a casual meal and drink for travellers who arrived late and weary. This was a real bonus. Having stayed at the Savoy in London, and always claiming it was my favourite hotel experience, I must admit that this hotel can compete for service and quality on that level. You must experience to believe.
“A step back in time.”
Hayfield Manor is a small Manor House located a few minutes from downtown Cork. From the minute we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The hotel is an elegant manor house with much of it's original charm, coupled with modern conveniences, including separate tub and shower, flat screen TV, tea and coffee service and fabulous bath products. There is also a full spa and an indoor swimming pool. The bar and restaurants were lovely and the service impeccable. The food was delicious. Try the eggs benedict at breakfast. Made from the freshest eggs, lovingly provided by happy hens. The beds and pillows were cozy and provided a warm cocoon for a great night's sleep.
“All good”
It had everything I needed and was very nice.
“3.5 to 4 star by Canadian standards”
The hotel has that lovely "old" feel to it and the grounds are also lovely. However, we found it to be a bit "tired". The bathroom had double sinks but no water (hot or cold) came out of the hot water tap in one sink and the shower head was loose and couldn't be moved properly. The room itself was always cleaned very well and the bed sheets were always crisp and clean. There is turn down service every evening around 6:30. It's quite a hike to walk to downtown Cork but if you like walking it's really not so bad. We had rented a car at the airport but didn't use it except for day trips. The on-site restaurant (Orchids) is fairly pricey so we usually walked about and tried out others. We went a couple of times to the River Lee Hotel and ate in the lounge side. Food was good and reasonably priced. Both times we went, their main restaurant was closed. We were fortunate while we were ther in that we only had 2 days of rain out of 10. Would recommend the hotel if you like walking to find off site eateries. We found driving and parking more of a hassle.
“Nice place”
The hotel is quite charming. The staff is very nice and friendly, particularly Bart, the doorman, who will give you excellent directions and travel advice. The food was very good. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The only downside is the location: it is at the edge of Cork, and not much is doing nearby. You have to travel to go to a less expensive restaurant than the hotel's; nothing is within walking distance.
