Great place to stay, but could be so much more!
Nice hotel past its prime but lots of potential. Bed was comfy, room was nice, staff were great. Just lacked a little proactive management.

Traditional hotel on the beach
We only had two nights at Alang Alang before leaving for the Gili islands but would have loved to had more. The cottages were set in beautiful gardens and although they are a little old now they had everything we needed and were very clean. Our cottage, which we loved for being very traditional, was close to the beach so had magnificent views and a great verandah area to take in these views. Meals could be enjoyed in the restaurant or at tables in the sand which was a lovely experience. The pool was nice and the staff were so friendly. Alang Alang is approximately 3 kilometers from the main area of Senggigi but it is easy to hop in a bluebird taxi or walk into town as we did. The location is very peaceful and relaxed and we would highly recommend it.

Friendly Staff!
Great hotel! Best staff. Very helpful. Nice and quiet compared from nearby villas. So it's relaxing. When there definitely speak to a man "Sastro" who works at restaurant in the arvo/night everyday. He will help you with anything u need! From drivers, to tours and your own boat to Gili islands for the day. Very friendly, as well as all staff at Alang Alang! It has a olden day look but still a great place to stay. Wifi sometimes slow but still good! would come here again! Free breakfast is awesome!!! Yummy food! TIP: Hot water is the right knob and let it run for around 5-10 mins to heat up.

Beautiful hotel on a beautiful beach.
This was my third stay at Alang Alang. I love this place. Each visit I have had a beach front room and watching the sunset from the porch and listening to the waves is really magical. The rooms, grounds, pool etc. are well maintained, and the staff are very friendly and attentive.

Peace beside the sea
We stayed at Alang Alang for 5 nights after a 5 day stay for a wedding in a more up-market resort in Mangsit. While not in the luxury category of the first resort, Alang Alang provided a wonderful opportunity to chill out, enjoy the gardens and pool, snorkel in the waters opposite our room, gaze at Mt Agung across the water at breakfast and sunset and to explore the island of Lombok. Food was good, if a limited selection, but we ate at small warungs nearby or a taxi ride into Senggigi costs 20,000IDR (about AU$2). Yes, it does need some maintenance/TLC, but I hope stories of its total redevelopment are exaggerated. The character of the rooms and buildings provides a pleasant alternative experience to that in the more expensive places. Staff were very helpful and friendly and found us a great driver, Dien, for trips around the island as well as to the airport on our last day.

Geweldig uitzicht op Bali
De kamers zijn ruim en degelijk, de staf is uitermate vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het ontbijt is goed met voldoende variatie. De menukaart heeft voldoende keus en we hebben lekker gegeten. Vanuit je kamer loop je direct het strand op met prachtig uitzicht op Bali. De badkamer was een verrassing omdat hij gedeeltelijk in de buitenlucht was, dit was helaas niet uit de beschrijving en de foto's van de kamer te halen, bij stortregen is de helft van de badkamer (WC en douche) nat. Het centrum van Senggigi is met de taxi binnen 5 minuten te bereiken.

Good value for money
The place is done in Indonesian style. It's not modern like the hotels next to it. It's quiet which is nice and you can have a massage on the beach. Price of room comes with excellent breakfast. Each room is like a chalet. Best to get the room with full ocean view.

Great location right on the beach front. Off the Sengiggi strip but close which made it quiet and peaceful. Loved it!

Amazing sea views good value in off season
We stayed in adjacent/duplex large rooms with terraces, spacious outside bathrooms and outstanding sea views. Had generally good service. The hotel was built in the late 90s in classic Indonesian style - dark carved wood and bamboo, marble and mosaics. There's an interesting and scenic pool, rocks instead of a beach, quirky 60s restaurant food; and other dining options and a spa available locally. Senggigi 10 minutes taxi away, has a few shops and quite a few other quality cafes and restaurants.
