nearby Shanghai Bund

The location of this hotel is very good, but the facilities is very old and poor. You can see the Shanghai Bund from your room, so it's not so disappointed.

Will not stay at this hotel

Data di pubblicazione: 2-nov-2013 su Hotels.com
Hotel.com clearly indicated that there is high speed wifi and that's one of the important reasons to book the room. But there's no wifi at all. Water pressure was bad, gotta wait long for hot water to shower. Room light not working make the room very dark. Front counter said no way to repair it and I request to change room but being told no more room available. The whole hotel quite smelly, bed not comfortable. Surrounding got many construction sites, super noisy. Location not too bad, 10 to 15mins walk to the bund. Lots food near by but be ware of restaurant hygiene. Overall, price is cheap but still not recommended to stay.

Worthwhile

I contro: Would like to see more done about guests who smoke with their door open on a no-smoking floor.
Location: Piaoying is a ten minute walk from the Bund in one direction, and the lavender line (10) subway in the other -- two stops from Yu Yuan, and with one connection, to People's Square. If you stay there, be sure to carry the address written in Chinese, and perhaps a small diagram, for taxi drivers. There is a convenience story across the street, and several restaurants within a hundred meter walk including a vegetarian restaurant and a Hui-Muslim one -- both being reasonably priced, with not-bad food. The area is quite an active dining area at night. Overall, the part of town is a bit seedy, but never felt unsafe. Staff: The staff were fine; not especially friendly, but attentive to guests' needs as far as I could tell. Check-in and -out went smoothly. Rooms: One side of the hotel faces a large construction site, the other faces south so that you may get a partial view of Pudong, the Bund, and Suzhou Creek which is a block away. My room with two twin beds on the seventh floor had dirty windows, otherwise the view could almost be described as splendid, in an old, worn, downtown urban sense. The interior was a bit dingy, but not at all disgusting. The furniture was clean: tables, chairs, etc provided sufficient space. TV worked. The toilet was clean, as were the counter-tops and shower. I saw one cockroach in five nights staying there -- an acceptable number in my opinion.
