“Hotel Ovidius - Rialto - Venezia”

Noi avevamo prenotato una camera economica matrimoniale pertanto descriverò questo tipo di location. La stanza e' piccola, il letto matrimoniale ha un comodino (altro lato contro il muro). Sono presenti una scrivania, un armadio, frigo bar, cassaforte, TV. Lo spazio e' poco nella stanza, ma poco importa a chi gira per la città dal mattino alla sera. Il bagno e' funzionale e pulito. Le finestre della nostra stanza erano affacciate sul muro del palazzo vicino a 1 metro circa, ma in una città come Venezia questo è la norma non l'eccezione altrimenti si vada negli Hotel del Lido. La colazione si consuma in una sala da pranzo con vista sul canal grande; colazione internazionale. La reception rimane aperta 24 ore su 24 e il personale è disponibile nel fornire informazioni circa la città, le visite ai musei, mostre, locali, ecc. Non abbiamo patito rumori molesti durante la notte nè dall'esterno nè dalle altre stanze. Consiglio questo tipo di sistemazione a coloro i quali vogliamo godersi Venezia "spremendone" le bellezze per la maggior parte del tempo (noi uscivamo alle 9 e rientravamo dopo cena). Chi preferisce sostare maggiormente in stanza necessita di altro tipo di sistemazione...ma chi va a Venezia per stare in camera?!?

“Cortesia e disponibilità nel cuore di Venezia.”

E' un'hotele centralissimo, praticamente nel cuore di Venezia, comodo, pulito, e la proprietaria è una persona decisamente affabile. Tutto è praticamente a portata di mano, un punto di riferimento ideale per una vacanza nella meravigliosa Venazie che spicca per eccellenza in tutto. Consigliato vivamente, Speriamo presto molti luoghi (ponte dei sospiri) vengano ripuliti da qulle impersonali e inutili titaniche rappresentazioni pubblicitarie, affinchè tutto ritorni allo splendore proprio dei luoghi.

Altro che gli albanesi....................tra vasche che perdono, serramenti che cadono a pezzi e colazione a base di brioche confezionate (non le mangio nemmeno a casa i cornetti della bauli) ................... Mahhhh

“GREAT PLACE TO STAY IN VENICE”

This hotel's central location near the Rialto Bridge makes it very convenient and it's easy to find, too! My quiet room was very nice with a comfortable bed, good pillows, great bathroom with plenty of hot water. A major plus is that there is a lounge area on the same floor as the rooms with a balcony and seats overlooking the Grand Canal. You can sit here for hours! Breakfast is on the floor above, again overlooking the Grand Canal. Staff of the hotel are very friendly and helpful. This is an excellent place to stay!

“Excellent location”

We read all the reviews, we found it to be just as discribed by previous visitors. A bit tricky to locate however we arrived at 9pm after 24 hrs of travelling. The water transportation system is terrific and located steps from the hotel. No lift but the gentleman at the desk assisted us with our bags, room was small, dated & clean as anticipated, the shower had great pressure, towels good. Balcony on our level overlooking the Rialto Bridge/Grand Canal-we ejoyed watching all the water traffic, another balcony off the dining room with same view. Breakfast is a bit sparse but definately got us started on our day outings. Good & reasonably priced restaurant suggested down the alley from the hotel, everything is close by & would definately consider staying there again.

“Worst hotel I've stayed in”

The room we were shown to was dreadful. Small, sparsely furnished, overlooking the shabby side street where the entrance to the hotel is to be found. I would consider it to be expensive at half the price we were charged. The en-suite was small, and not easy to get into the shower cubicle. The owners should be ashamed at charging what they do for this. It might be appropriate for someone looking for a cheap bunk for the night but not at this price. After complaining we were shown to another room, which was accessed up a steep narrow staircase to the bathroom level, and then a narrow spiral staircase to the bedroom. The room was basic with a step across the middle which we kept tripping on until we got used to it. No table/desk upon which to put anything. The shower rail was loose and did not hold the shower head. A feeble shower - low water pressure or a clogged up shower head. The overall fabric of the place is poor and in need of a complete overhaul and cleaning. Wallpaper hanging off, broken chandeliers, missing light bulbs, bare plaster board walling on the main stairway. Breakfast was cheap, poor quality and uninspiring. Supplement required for fresh coffee - otherwise coffee was found in a flask. Prepackaged croissants, dry bread and very basic cold buffet. Reception was often unattended - the "Back Soon" notice always seemed to be there. I strongly recommend anyone booking in to inspect the allocated room before signing anything.

“Excellent Location!”

If this is your first time to Venice, you are about to be in for a sticker shock. Hotel in Venice is just expensive, period. Most people stay off the island and water boat in during the day time, leaving the town mostly empty at night. With that said, Locanda is located as an excellent location within steps of Rialto Bridge. it is central to all the areas in Venice. And actually has a small balcony with view of the Grand Canal. The room itself is small but comfortable. I stayed at the Westin before which was about twice more expensive and it is honestly not much nicer as most buildings in Venice are old. For the price and location, it is a great hotel

“Not bad considering the price of everything else in Venice”

Stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Locanda Ovidius in September 2011. The location is superb, the Alilaguna waterbus stop from the airport is just on the opposite side of the Grand Canal and it's a 5 min walk over the Rialto Bridge (you might have to push your way through a few tourists but they soon move if you're carrying a large suitcase). The reception is next door and the staff are very friendly and make every effort for you. There is a balcony at the front of the hotel where you can sit and watch life pass by on the Grand Canal and look at the Rialto Bridge. The room is really clean and the bed was comfy however it is a bit shabby and the shower could have done with a curtain to keep water in but it did the job. Compared with the prices of other hotels and for it's location you couldn't fault this place. Breakfast is a continental affair which is ok, nothing special but set you up for the day. The location is so central that it's really easy to get about and explore all the main districts. St Mark's Square is about a 10 min walk. The Saturday morning market just round the corner from the hotel is well worth a visit. Overall we had a fantastic weekend and would stay again.

“Great authentic italian hotel - very helpful staff!!”

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Ovidius and we loved it!!! we arrived around 11.30pm. From the outside the hotel doesn't look very much, but don't be disheartened as once inside the hotel is full of italian charm and personality. The staff were so friendly and helpful. From drawing maps or booking restaurants, nothing was too much trouble. The location of the hotel is its best selling point. Over looking the grand canal and 30 seconds from the Rialto bridge. We found it such a luxury to be able to return to our hotel room throughout the day (usually to drop off shopping bags!) and just take 10 minutes out of the hustle and bustle. Room was cleaned immaculately daily and the air conditioning was a life saver (* one note they may wish to invest in a shower curtain!!!) Check out is 11am on day of departure, however they kindly stored our cases til 7pm that night as we weren't flying until late. Really a lovely hotel, we would definately recommend it!!
