One of the nicest hotels I have staid in...anywhere.
After reading the reviews about Paris hotels being so small, I booked the "Prestige Deluxe" room. They upgraded me (room 602). The room was spacious...with 2 small closets. It had a nice view and a large bath. It was very tastefully decorated. It had a nice view. Many small bakeries and fruit shops nearby. Tips: buy the Visit Pass before you leave the USA, for unlimited use of subway/bus/RER trains. The RER station is near the hotel and very usefull. A time saver. There is no way to buy tickets for the RER with cash at many stations (Luxembourg and the airport included) and you must have a debit card with an electronic chip embeded in it to buy them at most stations. These chips are not available in USA debit cards. Also buy tickets for Louvre, del’Orangerie and d’Orly museums in advance of the day you visit...long, one hour lines. Go to the"Info stand" at the Gare du Nord. The "visit pass" will get you there and then hook up with the metro. To get thru the metro exit with luggage just push on the door with the steel bars next to the turnstyle and it opens. Don’t miss the Mus. Cluny and the movie at the Aquarium near Trocadero. The Luxembourg Park is lovely. The hotel staff recommended several nice restaurants. Overall I was impressed by the courtesy of the French people (compared with Americans) and the fract that English is the common language of all the visitors to Paris.
