Very nice place to stay!
This hotel is in Mestre, NOT Venice, which is what Expedia told me when I booked it. However, it is directly across from the train station (as well as a bus stop), that takes you to Venice. The train stop is exactly one stop from Venice, and it only takes 1 euro to get you there. You can get a combined bus/water taxi pass from the hotel in 12 hr, 24 hr, 36 hr and 48 hr increments. This is useful, because you can catch the bus to Venice, then use the same pass to board the boats to go to any stop you want. After a couple days, we eschewed the bus in favor of the train. The train was much faster and much more comfortable, even though our pass was only good for the bus, not the train. If you want to stay in Venice, this is not the place for you. However, it was very nice and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. We drove from Munich to Mestre, so if I were to do it again, I would park next to Hotel Bologna (8 euro/day), stay a night there, then take the train to Venice and stay on the island. Parking is much cheaper in Mestre. One drawback of Mestre is there is very little in the way of night life/restaurants compared to Venice.

Excellent value for money
Hotel easy to find and very welcoming. The prices in the bar are very reasonable - €3 for a glass of wine. Our room was excellent and extremely quiet. Lovely bathroom. The decor was modern and tasteful. The breakfast was excellent - a buffet with as much as you could eat. Continental style and very tasty. You can buy tickets for the trains and buses at reception, just remember to validate them before you get on. The train into Venice was €1each way and took just a few minutes. Free internet access available in the lobby, together with lots of reading books in different languages. We highly recommend this hotel and would use it again.
