Nestled on 40 acres of peaceful bushland in Chiltern–Mt Pilot National Park, Woongarra offers a truly off-grid experience surrounded by nature.

The property is adjacent to Reedy Creek, one of Victoria’s premier gold panning locations, and is home to kangaroos, wallabies, elusive wombats, koalas and monitor lizards, and a diverse variety of bird species—perfect for nature lovers and wildlife watchers.

Located along a designated tourist route on an unsealed gravel road, the area features interpretive signage sharing stories from the gold rush era and the infamous Kelly Gang. This is more than a destination—it’s a step into history.

You're just:
- 10 minutes from Woolshed Falls
- 20 minutes from the historic town of Beechworth
- 15 minutes from the gold mining township of Eldorado, with its museum, McEvoy Tavern (Victoria’s smallest bar), and the iconic historic gold dredge

Thank you Helen and Andrew for meeting us and having a chat. Helen also showed us around the property and suggested a walking trail, which we did the following day and had a great view. We are 2 sisters who go for a short break for each other’s birthday. The cottage has 2 bedrooms and was definitely value for money. Well maintained, spotlessly clean and with a fresh bathroom, the cottage had everything we needed. The comfortable beds and soft, cosy sheets deserve an extra mention! Secluded and peaceful location was just what we wanted and we went gold panning in the river beside the property. The visitors’ book showed just how popular this cottage is!

Andrew and Helen's cottage was a fantastic choice for us. I travelled with my husband and adult daughter. We loved the cottage and surrounds. A short walk down to a beautiful creek and tranquil bushland to explore. I loved the variety of birds to see, and the complete darkness and thousands of stars on view at night. I slept very well both nights. I would definitely stay again next time I am in the area. Thank you

We spent the night in a beautifully appointed 2 bedroom cottage right in the heart of the national park. Plenty of land for our dog to run free. Hosts Andrew and Helen made us feel very welcome. Alan and Diane 14/12/24
