Location suited us - not too far from Durham city centre, but particularly convenient for our visits to Beamish and Tanfield Railway. Room was clean and well-appointed. Food was amazing! “This is an excellent, value for money budget hotel. Most facilities are at par with what you would expect from a budget hotel but most outstanding feature is its very helpful staff. Adam is a star. He went above and beyond with anything we needed help with. All other staff we interacted with - Sumit, Helen, Caroline - were all very kind and helpful. Kudos to the management for hiring such awesome people. The next door pub waggon team is also an asset, good food at reasonable prices. Convenient...

“Ich habe die Nacht in diesem Hotel sehr gut geschlafen. Das Bett war super bequem - nicht zu hart, nicht zu weich - und die Bettdecke ebenso klasse. Das Hotel wird nach und nach die Zimmer renovieren... meines kommt wohl auch bald dran. Gut - es war noch veraltet, aber auf jeden Fall wirklich sauber. Hier hätte ich es auch noch ein paar Nächte aushalten können.”

“We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. A lovely hotel, what was so good was how welcoming and helpful all the staff were during our stay. The room was spacious with a sitting area and a large TV. The bed was very comfy. We had a breakfast both days, excellent choice of food and helpful staff. There is nothing negative I can say about this hotel.”

“We have stayed at Ravensworth Arms before and have been highly satisfied on both occasions. The room we were given this time was very good, and we enjoyed our evening meal. We had the continental breakfast which was a little lacking in that there was no apple juice and no fruit on offer as advertised. “The room and en-suite were clean. The bed was firm and comfortable and the sheets were clean. The staff are first class and happy to help. Only one personal complaint, the area outside the window is the smoking area and with it being hot, I had to keep the window open which meant the smell of tobacco and weed would fill the room and the loud conversations were annoying. I am although happy to recommend the hotel.”

“A lovely traditional building, beautifully decorated and good sized rooms. It's cuisine, not average grub. Challenges me to try something different. Friendly, helpful staff. An affordable treat. Fabulous location close to the Abbey with disc parking across the road and a large free car park 5 minutes walk away by the Wentworth Centre. Second visit. If they start to accept well behaved dogs I'll be back again. ”
