Overall good stay!

The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel was a good choice of hotel to stay at. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming and had good knowledge of the local area. We requested a superior double room (which was the same price as a double room) but had a queen bed instead of two singles, and we ended up getting TWO separate bedrooms in our room- one with a queen bed and one with two single beds! A welcomed BONUS! The bathroom was a good size with a wonderfully larger-than-standard bathtub and towels a-plenty. The rooms were all in a good condition, everything was clean and tidy with some added extras like an iron and ironing board, kettle, biscuits, tea and coffee, two fans, glasses but no water, and I could not find a hair dryer! :( We were in room 102 and when we first got in at around 8:30pm, we could faintly hear music from the pub below, but when we went to bed at around 1am, we didn't notice any further disturbance from below (not that we were checking). I would suggest not being on the 1st floor (if this can be helped) if you're a super light sleeper or need utter silence to sleep! The following morning, we asked what the check out time was- which was the standard 11am and asked if there was complementary late check-out, but there wasn't and it was an additional £10 charge to check out an hour later. We didn't have breakfast included in our booking so we can't comment on the food being served. Our rooms view was a brick wall- but we were there just to sleep so we didn't mind!
