Out of touch and fading fast.

We have stayed many times at the Stamford over the last 10 years. It was always our favourite 5 star experience until this stay.
Greeted in a curt and disinterested fashion by the haughty desk staff, we felt unwelcome and our previously requested late checkout was not only denied but we asked to pay $50 an hour.
After declining this astonishing money grab, we were begrudgingly offered an extra 30 mins before immediately being offered an upgrade if we were willing to pay more.
Our request to have afternoon tea served in our room was denied, an experience we’d have enjoyed more than once previously. I remain completely baffled that any hotel claiming 5 stars won’t accomodate this simple request any more. The clues to the reduction in quality were flying thick and fast.
Our room was clean and pleasant, however the sliding door in the bathroom was straight out of. Hotel 6. Crashing open and shut to the slightest touch, this is not a 5 star door.
Leaving the hotel for our evening meal we were assulted by the bin smell at the side exit, charming.
A complimentary drink in the bar was coloured by the bar staff being lightening quick to point out the voucher was only worth $9. Ok guys, calm down about that already.
Breakfast! Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
Possibly the most miserable meal i’ve seen offered commercially in all my hotel experiences.
Over cooked, cold Bacon and Mushrooms-yum. Stay away from the SP guys, it has lost the plot.
