not quite as expected

Pro: close to the theaters and river
Contro: new bathroom doors, better soundproofing.could hear a normal convo. next door. turned up the t.v.smaller prices for the smaller rooms.
Posizione: theaters, restaraunts and the river,mill. park and the lake close, art museum close. everything in walking distance.
everything was just o.k. the room was super tiny,almost like they took full rooms and cut them in half to make more money. the bathroom was smaller than mine at home,and mine is TINY. no privacy in the bathroom as the double doors that you had to pull closed after you had a 1/4" or more gap in the middle. could hear people easily in the next room, was hoping we didn't keep THEM up with our t.v. on. no information about the hotel itself in the room, no layout or anything. no price list for the frig, always helpful. for what i paid i expected a bit more. disappointed.

Pro: The lobby was absolutely beautiful.
Contro: New bedding!
Walking in to the lobby of Allegro right away it gave off a very nice, classy, and vintage feel. Very beautiful! Check-in is on the second floor, you are waited on by a HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY STAFF! To the side they had complimentary champagne!! WHOO HOO. Entering our room.. was quite a disappointment nothing like what we had expected... The rooms were very small.. Looking out the window we saw a construction site, which was not much of a view... but at least the hotel room decor was somewhat nice... I just can't get over how crammed we were. The restroom EVEN SMALLER. Our bed comforter had tiny yellow & brown speckled stains.... YUCK! There was no room service available.. The hotel entrance was beautiful but the room could use some fixing up.

Avoid at all costs

My purse was left in my room and someone from the staff stole my debit card, wrote down another card number but put it back in a manner that I could tell my purse had been rummaged through. Several hundred dollars were taken and now I am spending my family vacation fixing this situation.

Very nice hotel and the staff was awesome!! The location being right next to the theater made it very convenient for my 75 year old mother.

convenient, nice hotel

Contro: valet had started to help us get a cab then stopped and helped a guest in their mercedes valet and take care of their luggage. We got our own cab
Overall it was a very nice hotel. Bathroom was quite small and hard to manuever. Not much counter space. Room could use a comfortable chair. The lobby was nice, front desk staff very friendly.

Great spot on Randolph - Close to best Restaurants

Contro: Elevator doors / elevators noise
Posizione: On the very edge of Chicago's best restaurants
The proximity to Chicago's attractions was excellent. The people are great. We were close to the elevators and it's an old building (very well appointed, but old. The elevators are older and noisey to rooms close by.
