“Clean rooms and good night meals”

“The accommodation was good but what annoyed me is we tried to turn the tv and heating on (its winter in Chch) and there was no power to either. We looked everywhere for instructions but there was none. Very disappointed, we rugged up on a very cold night and went to sleep. Next morning I told the staff how we had to endure a freezing night and no tv. She was very rude and just said “you have to put your credit card in the slot”. Then proceded to ignore me. I asked why we werent told, she said...

“Golden hotel is the perfect stay once landing in Christchurch and before leaving again. Very clean and nice space. Staff is also responsive and kind with inquiries. There is a Vietnamese cafe right on the main lobby so very convenient for a quick pick me up. Overall, would stay here again so definitely recommend!”

“Overall we had a good stay at the motel. The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and the location was convenient. Most parts of the experience were smooth and enjoyable. The only major issue was the airport shuttle service. We paid $15 to book the 6am shuttle to the airport, but it never arrived. We waited until 6:30am with no communication or update from the motel. In the end, we had to book an Uber ourselves for a very similar price just to make our flight. What was most disappointing...

“Very hospitable staff. Location is on a fast bus route to both airport and center city. Free shuttle is nice. Good television channels. Nice cafe around the corner.”

“Right next to Riccarton mall, and heaps of food options, couple of bars close if that your thing. Not sure when it was built, but made it through the earthquakes, showing its age but clean and warm, so more than happy with our stay.”

“The hotel is located on the grounds of the former University of Canterbury campus in Christchurch, which made for a unique experience. The historic setting gives the property plenty of character and atmosphere. The common lounge area of the hotel is a lovely place to relax and enjoy a tea or coffee. The rooms are clean and comfortable however they are quite small. Overall a nice stay”
