“Short walking distance to shops and amenities. Easy to park. Fairly spacious room with all the basic utensils you need. Comfy bed and sofa. Ample towels and flannels. Friendly check in staff. Only downside was the wet room style shower. Just not our preference having a permanently wet bathroom floor, even with the fan on constantly.”

“Quirky hotel with friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. Great place to stay when visiting Te Anau, Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. Short walk to Te Anau town centre and the lake.”

“Overall acceptable “motel” but probably not worth the value , it’s close to the lake but certainly not to the front. The “front” of the rooms offer fantastic views and sounds from a trafficking road instead. Rooms are pretty old fashioned and the bed was garnished with a brownie fake ( and dusty) fur. Welcoming was excellent though but certainly not sufficient to compensate.”

“Well designed apartment, spotlessly clean. We were not 'lake facing' but had some nice views out of our first floor windows. 10 minute lakeside walk into town. Receptionist at check-in was quite rude.”

“It was clean and overall great for backpackers/a hostel experience. It had a nice large kitchen area as well as a living room, garden and yard. The bed was average.”

“Motel is well situated for lake view, and fairly priced in comparison to neighbouring properties. Spa bath was a welcome addition for weary muscles. Ammenities adequate with plenty of kitchen utensils. However layout made cooking and dish-washing tricky. No kitchen table indoor or outdoor so had to use coffee table. While spacious, this aging property is overdue for a refresh. While our information sheet said the units were serviced daily, ours was not, even though we displayed the housekeeping...

“Don’t be put off by the backpacker property, the Lakeview rooms are terrific, very big with a great view and come with a mini fridge and kettle. The amenities are limited, just hand and body wash, and towels are limited, and no servicing, but for the price, the location is excellent, and the Lakeview rooms are totally separate from the backpacker dorms. ”

“The shower leaked a bit when the showerhead was pushed to the side and there was no ventilation inside the shower. Other than that it was perfectly fine”
