Decent hotel in Newport

Posizione: Location is great. Very close to the Balboa Penninsula and Balboa Island. Not walking distance, but a quick drive/Uber ride away!
Hotel entrance and lobby was great. Valet was very professional, along with Bellman service. However, our room was not anywhere as nice as what the pictures showed. We opted for a Bay View room and it was barely that. It was a parking lot, bulidings and then the bay... way off in the distance. We definitely got put in the "old" part of the hotel. There were no elevators to the 2nd floor. All rooms were outdoors. Pools were less than what I expected as well. We were hoping for bar service, along with food service - but nothing. The bed and pillows were comfortable, but everything else was just OK. Plus, our TV kept losing it's signal, but they did comp us for our two movie rentals.

Good value for your money

Pro: It was in a good location, and was clean. It was very quiet and peaceful.
Contro: The parking. Self-parking lot is extremely far from the Lido building.
When we got to our hotel room, I noticed it only had a stand-up shower (no tub) - which would have been an issue for bathing our 1.5 year old. I called the front desk to inquire, and they were very accomodating and immediately switched us to a room that had a bathtub, for no charge. The room was clean, and the bathroom seemed updated. My only complaint was the parking situation. The self-parking lot was extremely far from the Lido building where our room was. I didn't map it, but I would estimate a .3-.4 mile walk. Not only was it far, but there was not a direct path we could navigate with our stroller, which caused us to walk around the entire Bay building. This became very annyoying when traveling with our 1.5 year old, her stroller, and all of our bags from our day trips.

TOO BIG, NOT GOOD

It's a big hotel, (motel style) with no customer service. They give you the minimum. No ameninities, towels are cheap, very small rooms. I had upgrades available and they didn't credit them. The only good thing is the location in NewPort. If you are not going to spend any time in the hotel, it's ok. Very disappointed.

Nice Hotel - too many extra fees

Contro: Reduce the amount of extra fees.
Posizione: Balboa Island and pier are a must!
We were able to check in at 10:00 am which was great! The room was clean, bed was comfortable but the bay building was a little dated. I was very disappointed when I checked out of the hotel and had $25 resort fees, $25 parking fees and taxes added onto our bill. I was aware of the $25 resort fee but sadly assumed that covered the parking. We didn't use any of the resort options as the weather didn't cooperate with the pool and we decided to spend our time at the ocean instead.

A dreary dump!

Pro: The service staff was great.
Contro: The staff checked me out every day, though asked not to. When I did check out nothing was ready thoughI'd called the desk.
Posizione: Great location near Fashion Island.
Rooms couldn't be more dreary and decor is cheap and tired. The room service has the highest service charge of any hotel I've ever stayed in. No way is this a four star hotel. Two stars is more like it. Too bad because the location is execellent.

Nice hotel close to shopping and the beach

Contro: Self parking is quite far from some rooms
Posizione: Fashion Island is minutes away Corona del Mar is 5 minutes away
Very conveniently located near great restaurants and shopping. Service was good

Terrible Parking and Fees

Pro: There were multiple pools so it was never crowded.
Contro: Make it more clear that there will be parking fees, or remove them since the parking is so far way from some of the rooms.
Posizione: The location was fairly close to Newport Beach and Balboa, so it was an easy drive, but I'm glad we had a car to get around.
When we showed up to check in, there was an unexpected deposit I had to pay of $50 a night (normally $75) that wasn't included in the Expedia explanation of fees due (this is not the resort fee that is also due). Then, without anyone telling us during check in, we had to pay $25 a night to park our own car, which was about a half mile away from our room. It was a very disappointing honeymoon stay, and we tried to leave the hotel as much as possible.

Six night stay. Very comfortable room. Housekeeping was accomodating to our needs.
