“Very good stay. Very nice well appointed room. Couple of small points. For breakfast the cooked food was excellent but thought there could be a bit more in the buffet e.g. fruit/pastries. Also our room was right above the out of hours entrance so there can be some noise from people returning late plus deliveries take place right outside the room so we had the pleasure of a noisy beer delivery around 7am. We ate in the restaurant one night and food and service were very good.”

“There is parking behind the waitrose and staff walked us there after their shift had ended to ensure we understood the parking App since tomorrow is the Farmers Market on High Street and we would have to move the vehicle early. Now it’s all sorted and paid in advance. Of course it’s an older hotel and everything is crooked and settled, but you should come here for that eclectic experience, as we did. I just miss the old mural that was painted in the pub before, replaced by a more modern map. ”

“La stanza è molto spaziosa confortevole, si dorme bene, il pub è distaccato e almeno in questo periodo non porta problemi solo qualcuno che si mette ai tavoli esterni più vicini ma li si può sentire mormorare ma non da dare fastidio, potrebbero arrivare però urla fino a oltre la mezzanotte di bambini di genitori non capaci di educarli. Il pub è particolare come lo è il personale oltre che essere cordiali, un posto da scoprire”

The propery is as close to original as possible, very old world. Rooms are sympathetically updated, to include en-suite bathroom.
Accessed via cobble streets, the smell of coal fires, sound of horses and laughter. Nostalgic to say the least.
Staff are great, food is good, fire is warm, rooms are silent. If you cant sleep here, you wont sleep anywhere!
