Hotel a Ely

“This hotel has no staff on site. We stayed for two nights and received no housekeeping services at all. No exchange of towels, replenishment of supplies, the bed was unmade. Nothing. The furniture was beat-up. I would have expected 1/2 the price to stay there. I do not recommend it and I would never stay there myself again.”

“We were traveling and storms were all around. This was our only available option as most hotels were booked. It is nothing fancy and location seems weird, but clean and safe.”

“Our stay here was Wonderful! The room is large and spacious, clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and very helpful - plus the hotel itself is quite interesting to learn it's history and walk around viewing artifacts from the past. If you are staying in Amana, we highly recommend the Hotel Millwright, we wish all of our hotel stays were as nice as this one!!”

“My wife and I had a great stay. The room was clean and super nice. They went out of their way to ensure there was something for everyone at breakfast. We will definitely stay again.”

“The tollette and bed were operational. The air conditioning was too. Other wise, the tv and most electrical appliances and outlets were not functioning.”

“We stay every time we travel thru Iowa City and it never disappoints. Staff is friendly, checkin is easy, location good, rooms comfortable and clean. The happy hour in the lobby with snacks and drinks is wonderful!”

“Hotel was worn out. Room had stains in carpet, and mattresses were squeaky. Wood surfaces in the elevator were worn and damaged. Overall the property just looks work out and needs an update.”

“The room was clean, getting there was another story. Outdoor garbage was overflowing, inside garbage was overflowing, there were empty beer bottles on the tables in the lobby and no one was around. The elevators were filthy, was worried what our room was going to look like. However, it was clean and cool, the bed was comfy. It is literally right next to interstate 80 so the traffic noise is real.”

“Check in set the tone. The girl was the most unfriendly hospitality worker I’ve encountered. 0 welcome. 0 communication. Checked in and discovered our door was broken and dead bolt wouldn’t latch. Back to the desk. Unfriendly worker inconvenienced by this. We left to eat and came back to see if issue resolved. Again-she is inconvenienced. Hard to find positives when this person kills the vibe.”

“Breakfast was decent, pool was clean and refreshing. However, there was a distinct smell about the whole first floor and especially our room. We were only staying for one night, so it wasn't a deal breaker for us, but if you are sensitive to smells at all, I'd be careful. Staff were helpful and overall the beds were comfortable and room was clean....just the smell!”

“No hot tub, fridge in room didnt work upon arrival, did get it working eventually, guessing not much maintenance and upkeep.”

“I accidentally made a reservation at this hotel, not realizing the date on my search had reset and was no longer correct. Within about two minutes of making the reservation, I caught my error and immediately called to cancel. The hotel was completely inflexible and charged me full price for a room that I wouldn't be able to stay in. It was an honest mistake that was caught quickly. I'll think again before staying at a Days Inn.”

“The room was very clean.Comfortable beds and loved their was Shampoo Conditioner and Body Soap and lotion.So much to do around.Would definitely stay again.Didn’t try breakfast though.”

“We’ve stayed at this property about once a year since it opened, initially so thrilled for a hotel here. Unfortunately, the property has gone downhill. Holes in the sheets, loose tiles in bathroom, sticky, dusty furnishings and the AC unit rattled and moaned so loudly we turned it off. Breakfast offerings were good. Sadly we have to cross this off our shortlist.”
