Would book again :)

We booked this hotel because we could not afford the $500.00 per night charge to stay in the Grand Canyon Village after our tour. It was a 2 hour drive from the South Rim, but the drive and directions were easy. The desk staff, although not polished (he had very little teeth) was super polite and helpful. We had originally booked a room overlooking the pool with a queen bed, but were placed overlooking the parking lot with 2 double or queen beds. It didn't really matter since we just wanted a clean place to sleep and I'm sure if we had asked, he would have switched us. The room was clean, but dated however; the mattresses and pillows were really nice and the decor had vintage details, which was what I hoped for given the location on Route 66. Lots of signs and memorabilia in the breakfast room and hallway, as well as funky tables and chairs in the sunroom part of the breakfast hall. The breakfast was very good, offering alot of options that would appeal to many tastes...even whole wheat bread, which is usually a rarity. If you like posh, don't like history/nostalgia and are super particular about room decor, then this is not the place for you. If you want a clean, cheap and interesting place to stay, then you'll love it.
