Good location, but mind your expectations

Whether you like this hotel depends on what you're looking for. If you want a hotel that provides a glitzy, luxurious L.A. experience, you definitely need to look elsewhere. This is a former Days Inn, on the edge of Chinatown in a not-so terrific area of Downtown. It shares the block with a bodega, a Subway and a bail bondsman. But the location is very good, about two blocks from Union Station and near every major bus and subway line in L.A. You can get from there to almost anywhere in an hour or less (even Santa Monica, which took about 40 minutes, including a transfer). And I paid far less than what most hotels go for in L.A. It's definitely not a luxury hotel, but it has the basics, it's clean, it's not noisy and depending on what you're looking for, if you don't want to pay a lot of money for all the frills, this is a good choice.
