Great Resort, Food Not So Great

Summary of our experience, start with 0 stars:
+1 star: The staff is super friendly and helpful
+ 1 star: The resort is really clean and they try to plan out events to keep the guests entertained
+ 1 star: If you stay at the Riu Palace, you have access to everything at Riu Santa Fe. Basically getting 2 resort for price of 1.
+ 1 star: On NYE night I lost my phone, the next morning I called it and the hotel lobby answered and said they have the phone and I can pick it up whenever I like. The staff could have easily pocketed the iPhone.
+1 star: Really safe and trustworthy staff (see above explanation).
- 1 star: The food option is minimal and we were not impressed. They have many restaurants listed, however most are only open for dinner. So for breakfast and lunch, you're forced to the same repetitive menu of the buffet. The buffets are targeting towards travelers that are not looking for local food. We love Mexican food and were extremely disappointed that after 5 days in Mexico, there was not a single Mexican meal we found at the resort that we paid so much money for.
So, overall, I give them 4 stars, with one start taken out for lack of food. If you're a foodie, I wouldn't recommend this place at all.
