Staying at the lovely Casa Kuxtal greatly added to our enjoyment of our 8-night (too short!) visit to Mérida. The owners have done a top notch job with the renovation, drawing out the home's historic character (gorgeous tile floors, restored antique woodwork) while tastefully modernizing the kitchen and baths. The courtyard is a peaceful oasis, where you can even hear the choir singing from the nearby church. Do remember your mosquito repellent - on days when it isn't windy, they're a problem. We didn't try the A/C, the ceiling fans were enough during our stay. Plenty of dishes, cutlery, coffeemaker etc. Took us some googling to figure out the cooktop - there's a switch on the wall, then the trick is you have to have a pot on the burner before it will turn on. Didn't find an iron, but I wouldn't swear there isn't one somewhere. Wifi was solid. Owners were very responsive, and the caretakers very nice and helpful. Pleasant and safe walking to everything, even at night. If we come to Mérida again, I will arrange the trip around the availability of Casa Kuxtal!
