Non merita assolutamente 4 stelle: bagno senza riscaldamento (a York d'inverno fa molto freddo), niente frigo bar in camera, stanza piccola. Le apparenze ingannano.

Luxurious

Lovely stay - good for York's attractions. Room was lovely but hot even with a/c on lowest setting. Pool very good. Breakfast was fabulous.

The hotel room.

The fridge wasn’t working that we suppose to place our bottled drinks and milk for my daughter. We informed them but they don’t have any available fridge to replace. It was smelley too because of the left over fruits maybe from the previous occupant. The room wasn’t cleaned properly as there were tissues left on the carpet behind the side table. Sorry I was a bit OC but we had a quiet and comfy night.

A pretty average hotel

We stayed here because of the pool but it was all a bit tired. Very average hotel and quite expensive. Decor in bar and restaurant is dated and dark.. Nice view of race course but it was obvious that to get seat with a view you needed to not be with kids - all families seated on other side. Wouldn’t stay again.

Nice for a short stay

Great location for access to York - taxis cost ~ £7 each eay. Hotel room is tad dated, bathroom not really up to scratch for a Superior King: cracked tiles etc Wallpaper peeling off is some places Staff were friendly and happy to help!

Ok Hotel but not Marriot Quality.

I am a avid traveler. Marroit and Hiltons are my go to choice. Traveling in the UK can leave many with a short fall of expectation when it comes to their favorite Hotels. This hotel is not exception. Looks like more of a hospital conversion to a hotel than a true Marriot. The rooms are run down and the over all feel of a 2nd rate Best Western. The Restaurant is Good but has that outdated Bohemian shabby chic decor and weird hippy/trippy background music. The staff were the best and deserve a better place to call Marroit. You may say: "Yes it is old, and that just the UK" but not true as I have traveled to many locations in UK and EU. they were much better quality. Oh and by the way; If you want someone to find your hotel, make an adequate road sign! I passed it by twice before we found it.

Ok but not good

We stayed for 2 nights neither of which we got any sleep due to babies crying and late night revellers. Considering we had a supposedly deluxe room the shower was a trickle and the water temperature difficult to manage. It was either freezing cold or boiling hot. On entry into the room the kettle and hairdryer were missing and had to be requested. However on a plus note the staff were apologetic but didn't offer to either move us. The location for York and the view of the racecourse was great but for the same money a premier inn would be just as good. Didn't feel that we got a special experience we expected from the Marriott chain brand.

Plumbing Problems

Posizione: Good location on racecourse for walking plus all of historic York. Great pubs and restaurants with plenty of choice.
We had booked The Marriott as we had previously stayed at others which were of very good standard. Arrival and reception staff were polite and helpful and our room with a sitting area and large bedroom were very pleasing, however when trying to run a bath in the evening the water was at most lukewarm. Reception staff were sympathetic, but, no action could be taken until the following day. A very helpful maintenance man arrived to check the water and we were informed that this had been an ongoing problem for a number of weeks leading up to Christmas. We were offered another room of similar standard, however, this had a noisy ventilation duct outside and so we finally agreed to a smaller room with allegedly hot water. Having wasted several hours of our holiday sorting this we returned to the new room in the evening to be confronted with lukewarm water again. On this occasion, reception staff were unhelpful and stated that this was normal water temperature. I offered for the duty manager to test also, however, no manager interested, We were due to stay for 5 nights, but, checked out the following day and found alternative accommodation. Yes, the duty manager on this day, offered compensation, but, overall extremely disappointing and appalling service from some duty managers. NEVER again will we stay at this Marriott Hotel.
