NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED

Data di pubblicazione: 16-mag-2016
Pro: Distance to The Louvre, Metro and other transportation was a positive.
Contro: Need to change or remove dirty carpets.
Posizione: Many restaurants within easy walking distance; Metro stop out front; A Big Bus Tour stop is about 3 blocks away. The Louvre is about a 5 minute walk
The Hotel Lumen is very close to The Louvre, restaurants, metro, and shopping. The rooms are very, very small. There is no place to put luggage or to put clothes away, unless they hang up. We had to store our luggage in the small closet and when we wanted something out of it, we'd drag it out to the bed, retrieve what we wanted, then put it back in closet. The carpet in the room was extremely dirty - luckily slippers are provided so that you don't need to step on rug with your bare feet. It did have a small balcony that overlooked the street scene. Would not stay here again.

Amazing Location

Data di pubblicazione: 12-apr-2016
A nicely priced hotel with a great free breakfast in a wonderful location. I loved the tiny balcony on the top floor and bathroom toiletries (Hermes). The overall decor however is dated and some minor maintenance details needed to be addressed (a little wear & tear and I didn’t like there was no shower curtain in bath area even though they had the curtain rail clips still on ceiling)… I had to be extra careful not to spray water on entire bathroom. Nevertheless, It was a nice marble bathroom and overall I had a good experience and would consider staying there again due to the price and location.

Great location hotel

This hotel great location and great service is what makes it a 4 star. The concierges (jean Claude-Johan) were very helpful and the breakfast was delicious. Location, 1 minute walk from Tuilleries garden, Rivoli and St. Honorè streets make it the perfect hotel. Rooms are small ( old fashion) and lobby decor could improve.

Great hotel in an excellent location

Data di pubblicazione: 21-mar-2016
Pro: It is a smallish hotel but very, very nice, extremely well run and I really enjoyed my stay there.
Posizione: It is VERY central for all of the Paris attractions - an excellent base for exploring all Paris has to offer.
I'd not been to Paris for about 6 years and Hotel Lumen really made this trip special. I've stayed in quite a few lower and mid-priced Paris hotels over the years and always been disappointed by them. However, this mid-price hotel was pretty outstanding - very good, central location. The Louvre, Place Vendome, Tuilieries Gardens, Palais Royal, Paris Opera etc are a few minutes walk away... To my surprise, I didn't use the metro this trip at all. The sun was shining and walking around Paris was amazing, even the longer walks I took! Rooms were spotless, stylish, a decent size and with very comfortable beds (a cancelled flight meant another night and I headed straight back to the Lumen, this time to a different room). There is some wear and tear, but they are traditional high-ceilinged rooms so it added rather than detracted to the overall experience. Breakfast was included - buffet, but extensive choice and faultless re quality and freshness. Staff are friendly and highly professional. In fact, they reminded me of staff in some so-called 'posh' hotels I have stayed in, but without the snooty aloofness - perfect. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great location

Data di pubblicazione: 21-feb-2016 su Hotels
The location is the main reason to stay in this hotel and what I felt was a reasonable price considering you can pay £100+ for basic hotels in the UK. The Louvre is literally around the corner and the Arc and tower were walkable (though there are metro stops easily accessible). The look of this hotel is unusual. The rooms are lovely. Not huge but great beds. The reception was tiny and the entrance to the rooms wasn't that clear--felt a little like we were walking into a brothel with all the red and black. The staff weren't particularly friendly. Not rude but no pleasant greetings which was a shame. The maids did an excellent job. We didn't eat in the restaurant as the menu was fairly small and it wasn't open on Sundays so be prepared to eat elsewhere. Breakfasts were standard continentals and nice. As a base to explore Paris, I'd recommend it. If you're planning on using the hotel for much more than a nice place to go at night, I'd consider elsewhere but I'd go again for the nice beds and decent showers.

Great City with dirty Hotelroom

Data di pubblicazione: 16-feb-2016 su Ebookers
I visited the hotel with my girlfriend for a short trip to Paris during valentines day. Firstly, Paris has a lot of great sightseeing points in the centre and the hotel is perfect because of its central position. So you can visit a lot of them within walking distance. Moreover the connection to public transport is also very good because of the metrostation Pyramides next to the Hotel. Secondly, the hotel offers a giant breakfast buffet and Wifi. In addition a fitness room is available. You find a lot of bars and restaurants in the area around the hotel. Finally, it sounds like a dream vacation but there was one problem. Our hotel room was the extremely dirty! It was more dirty than we had expect at 4-star hotels. There were hairs on nearly all pillows, the sheet and the blanket. In addition the bathtub has hairs as well. This cannot be standard in an international city like paris. After complaining at the front desk we got a verbal apology and new covers for all parts of the bed but we had to change them by ourselves because it was too late for service personal at 22:30 pm. After that we did not get any compensation. All in all the hotel is not a good choice because it is too expensive for the hygiene performance. If you do not care about this, the central position and the rest of the hotel performance are good.
