“Situated in a lovely area of the Sussex Downs this small country pub provided ideal accommodation for our visit to Glyndbourne. Clean, simple but well appointed accommodation, with a good breakfast provided in the morning. Long Man Best Ale in cask available at the bar, which was a treat.”

“It was large, clean and bright, easy to reach from the rail station and bus service 10 min and the city centre. A bit noise because is on the street. Excellent position to start the walk on the cliffs and see the paradisiac Seven Sisters”

“We have stayed at this hotel several times before. It’s a great location in Eastbourne. The bed was clean and fresh and the breakfast very tasty. However, it is very tired. Our room was very disappointing- damp on the ceiling, one light fitting in the en-suite was hanging out of the ceiling and 2 other down lighting bulbs did not work. There was no heating in the room and it was needed. Also, there was no BBC on the very small and inefficient TV.”

“The hotel was stunning, with an antique elevator and wonderful staff who upgraded my room to a full sea view suite! the bed was so comfy and ginormous, and the bath was incredible. The whole place was super clean and modern. I will say, the room is showing signs of wear. Orange (tan?) stains on the marble, bubbling wallpaper under the mirror over the sink and marks on the paintwork, but none of this could take away from the immaculately clean room and gorgeous bed.”

“Have stayed in 4 hotels and B&B’s in Eastbourne and this is by far and away the best one I’ve stayed in. Victorian features, stain glass windows combined with a modern style. Breakfast choices were eggcelent with proper sausages and bacon, the “house” scrambled eggs was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was a bonus as that area of Eastbourne can be tricky to find spaces to park at night. Would definitely stay at The New England again.”

“First room was unusable due to extreme noise all night, and I only got moved the next day after reporting it. The first night was therefore effectively lost and no refund was given. Also concerning: the hotel took full credit card details, including the security code (CVV), and wrote them down on a piece of paper, which is unsafe practice. Overall, poor handling of a serious issue and questionable payment security procedures. Expedia offered only a small goodwill credit, which did not reflect...

“Registration was cursory. Certainly not rude, just “fill in your details and here’s your key.” No offer of assistance for two seniors to carry suitcases up narrow stairs. No further information offered. Room was adequate. Shower is traditional British style - in a very high narrow tub, very dangerous for seniors in my opinion. Notice in room that no outside food allowed, and may result in an additional charge. Overall good value for money, but more of a two star than a three star hotel. ”
