LOCATION: not really near anything of significance. All excursions that were of interest were at least 1 - 3 hours travel time one-way. The shortest was "Tour of San Jose" (~20 minutes). And no beach nearby
FACILITY: It is VERY dated and the pictures do not truly reflect the level of work that needs to be done. I selected the "Tower" for the upgraded room and was still under-whelmed. Issues with water leak from ceiling in 1st room into the carpet (which I assume is not "new" & probably mold/mildew). They upgraded room to Jr. Suite for the inconvenience, but it had a water leak too in bathroom coming from behind wall/jetted tub-- walking into the bathroom in middle of night into water on floor (the only remedy was to place towels on floor to catch/soak-up the water ---- unsightly)
View from the room you see beams of rotten wood, plenty of areas that require painting, windows dingy & need exterior cleaning
One of the concessions for the trouble was a dinner voucher of $30 for 2 people in 1 of the 2 restaurants. Even though the Front Desk handled the reservation at the restaurant of choice, the restaurant was not aware of the $30 voucher concession-- again, i had to be the villain to complain to have it corrected.
Just compounded problems & not a good experience at this property and it really gave me a sour taste for Costa Rica-- been there, got a T-Shirt, and don't care to go back!
Overall message: Underwhelmed and property needs renovation immediately
