Fantastic historic property in great location

Built in 1880, full of charm and exceptionally well run. Wine and cheese social in the library right after check-in was a great way to start our stay in Cambria. This hotel offers a library of DVDs to borrow for the night, but we didn't plan on staying in. We booked the Luxury King room, and it was more spacious than staying in a suite at the Ritz. The furniture is a mix of floral patterns and antiques; not my personal favorite, but definitely appropriate for the period hotel. It was clean and uncluttered with a large bathroom and deep tub. The breakfast the next morning was well above your average Continental. Everything from Huevos rancheros to oatmeal, bagels, an assortment of yummy artisan breads for toasting, delicious blueberry loafs, croissants, and other pastries. There was a great selection of fresh fruit and I enjoyed the sliced apples pre-dolloped with peanut butter! Good strong coffee and a large assortment of teas (not just the usual Lipton's standard earl grey etc.) The breakfast room itself is lovely, eating scones and drinking coffee by the bay window while watching a bit of rain fall on the pines beyond was incredibly serene and relaxing. The owner was the perfect amount of chatty and informative. In general, the staff was upbeat, friendly and very helpful. Perhaps the best attribute to the Burton Inn, is its location. We walked up and down Main Street, had a nibble at the pub, wine tasted around the corner, and enjoyed all the shops. Fabulous staycation!
