Good hotel but not 5 star

The Majestic sits atop a beautiful vantage point of both the east and west sides of Santorini. I had a great view of the caldera side from my room. The pool offers and great view of the other side of Santorini. The location is both good and bad. It is a good 15 to 20 minutes walk into town and the public transportation, a bit far for a man with bad knees like me, but the upside is that it is relatively quiet and peaceful.
Checkin went smoothly and the staff were very professional and friendly. There is a lot of brochures and information on local attractions, and the staff is also very knowledgable and helpful. The lobby is very beautiful and spacious, but not well air conditioned. The breakfast buffet offered many selections, but unlike true 5 star hotels, they do not offer eggs to order. I would rate this as a 4 star hotel because of this and a few other things I noted.
The room was on the smaller side. One thing that seemed odd is that when I made the reservation I told guest services that there were two men checking in (me and an old friend) so we wanted two separate beds. They said “no problem”. Their “solution” was to simply make up two twin beds but keep them pushed together like when they configure it for a queen size bed. This didn’t seem like a 5 star solution. The amenities of the room were what I would expect such as, stocked refrigerator bar, iron and ironing board, bathrobes, slippers, soap, shampoo, conditioner, dental kit and other items in the bathroom, free u
