“The River Lodge is a beautiful property set in lovely grounds. We had a large beautiful room, very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and a balcony with a wonderful view of the mountain. We had fabulous breakfasts and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only downside is that it is quite remote - about a 10 minute drive into Ohakune.”

“It was a good place to stay. Great location. Well furnished, with nice beds and a high pressure shower. However there was no firewood, and the fire pit outside was not there if I’m being picky. Overall perfect for families and much better than staying at a motel!”

“Clean and comfortable. Smart TV and modern furnitures. Great place and location. Upstairs is very warm when it’s sunny. The place is well equipped for a family; washing machine, kitchen etc. Love staying there! Wish there is an English Breakfast or Earl Grey option for tea instead of just peppermint or chamomile or green tea. Apart from that, it’s at the end of the cul de sac so it’s quiet.”

“Really nice hosts! This is a bit of a hidden gem, the name may suggest more of a summer vibe but this is a great spot for a winter weekend mission to the mountain. They don’t have many rooms which is kinda nice as is keeps things pretty quiet. Heaps of parking space close to the rooms and the spa was great after a day on the mountain. Simple, very clean and well priced with great host! Not much more you could ask for. ”
