“Superb pub and rooms steeped in local history - Robert Plant started his career here playing blues guitar aged 15 in the upstairs blues club (sadly not there anymore but the history is palpable). “As a football fan, it was great to stay at a place with such a close association to the professional game. The grounds and buildings there were very grand and impressive. I stayed at the main house with a sprawling set up providing space for work on my laptop and a big bathroom with a cracking shower. I decided to use the gym which was functional but somewhat underwhelming considering the backdrop. “Staff excellent, room very small no chair or even room for bags. Wifi in room also poor. Bar food and service excellent and the welcome pack and light breakfast choice good. Clean but the building is ageing. The steps to the rooms really need to be illuminated or there will be a fall”
