“This was actually our second stay at Lum as when our flights were delayed we wanted a little haven to relax and enjoy our extra time in the South. “The Fortress Resort and Spa is a five-star hotel. It boasts a prime location—if your travel destination is the famous "stilt fishermen," several such sites are just a two-minute walk from the hotel. From the hotel grounds, guests can enjoy panoramic, spectacular views of the ocean. The hotel offers top-notch service and world-class facilities. Its restaurant, however, is merely average; the variety of food available does not quite justify the price point.”

“Beautiful property on great stretch of Kabalana beach. It was really nice walking along the long stretch of beach and having a dip in the warm and clear water. The king size bedroom was big, clean and very comfortable. The pool area was relaxing with comfortable sun beds with a great view of the beach and also direct access. We enjoyed eating lunch at the pool area with some of the best king prawns we had, deep fried in panko breadcrumbs. Everything we had for lunch and breakfast was good...

“Staff was wonderful, highly recommend. Rooms were cleaned daily, the rooms were functional, the property it self is a bit old, but still very beautiful. Private secluded beaches, you just cant beat the views and how private it is. I initially only had the reservation for 3 days, but extended it to a week. Highly recommend! ”

“Stylish, peaceful and perfectly located for exploring the south coast. We think Ahangama is the best town for a mix of relaxation and great dining options. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the breakfasts were a real highlight. A lovely boutique stay... would happily return.”

“Nice clean rooms and attentive staff, pool was heated and the location was walkable into certain surf spots; sticks, and marshmallow. Only issues is that the bathroom was slightly broken, sink was loose and shower door dragged. The staff we not familiar with Expedia payments, but this is common for the island as most hotels don’t like the idea of not being paid cash. This was sorted eventually but remember to show your payment receipt on check in. ”

“Firstly the reservation hadn't been received so I had to pay for the room again and rely on a refund from Hotels.com. Nice room but very noisy with train line adjacent to the building. Location wasn't great with a 20 min walk into Ahangama and no nearby restaurant or food shops. I left one night early but no refund for the unused night from the hotel. Overall not a good experience.”
