“The room was big and very clean, with a big bathroom, I really appreciated the room! We had dinner in the pub and it was one of the best of our holiday! Also the breakfast was very good and big. I really recommend this place. ”

“We had a meal on the first night which was very good. Guinness pie with mash and an Angus burger. Food was served hot and was very tasty 😋 The room was clean and tidy with a big bathroom. One small issue was a loose toilet seat but it was sorted as soon as I reported it to reception. Overall a good 2 night stay. A cooked breakfast would have made the stay even better but there was a continental breakfast, fresh fruit, cereal, toast, yoghurt etc.”

“I recently stayed at The Lion for two nights with my husband and toddler. We booked The Bakery Suite (Quadruple on Hotels.com) which had a seperate living area which was ideal for us. Check in was swift and we found all the staff throughout our stay to be friendly and accommodating. We ate dinner in the restaurant the first night and opted for the roast beef. I always find roast dinners disappointing if the are not home cooked but this was honestly the tastiest roast I have ever had at a...

“We loved our stay at the Ancient Gatehouse. The room was lovely and looked out over the green in front of the Wells Cathedral. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the hotel has an excellent Italian restaurant, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner before walking around the lovely town of Wells. Americans should know it is not air conditioned, but air conditioning is rare in the UK and Europe. There is a fan and lovely large windows. We will definitely return.”

“We were at wedding about 10 minutes away at carden park and booked this place as it was a lot less expensive. The meadow room was spacious and cosy, the bed was very comfortable The breakfast was delicious and plenty. Would absolutely love to stay here again”
