Description

Imagine all of the armour-clad adventure, fierce family feuds, and north-of-the-Wall drama of the critically acclaimed TV series Game of Thrones on this outing to filming locations throughout Iceland's rugged wilderness. Visit the lands where White Walkers roam as you admire scenery that's even more stunning in real life.

Get picked up from your hotel in Reykjavik and head out of the city into the rolling vales, waterfall-traced hills, and wild landscapes of Iceland. In this varied and captivating terrain, it's easy to visualise dire wolves racing across the fields and dragons circling overhead. Follow in the footsteps of characters from the show and relive tales of the Seven Kingdoms as you make your way between locations that provided the barren and brutal backdrop for the show.

Listen to behind-the-scenes details and anecdotes about the series as you seek out extraordinary sites. See the stomping grounds of the White Walkers at the dramatic gorges of Thingvellir, and walk the trail taken by Wildings as you learn about the symbolism of the setting. Visit the rift where the American and European tectonic plates meet, and stop in the Thjorsárdalur Valley, home to the Settlement Era Viking Lodge, where one of the most climactic and violent scenes of the series was filmed.

Even though the weather was horrible, the tour guides knew their subject matter and kept the tour on schedule an interesting... even though many on the tour had never seen the show or read the books. Those were two difficult challenges to navigate and the driver and tour guide managed it well.

Ziggy, our guide was excellent. First we visited the Icelandic horse farm, which supplied horses for GoT. We saw the horse that the "Hound" rode with his legs touching the ground. Ziggy gave lots of information about the filming in various sites. He had pictures from GoT demonstrating the various scenes in these sites. He also had lots of stories about the GoT actors. Ziggy also gave us heaps of information and history about the area. We had 3 breaks for Morning tea, lunch & afternoon tea in small , cosy ,local Icelandic businesses. I highly recommend this Game of Thrones tour, especially with Ziggy.
