Description

Discover the highest mountain in Japan on this delightful day trip from Tokyo. Immerse yourself in the history and features of Mount Fuji, gaze at the breathtaking panoramic vistas from 5th Station and take a leisurely cruise along the calm waters of Lake Ashi.

After your hotel pick-up, head 83 miles (135 km) southwest of Tokyo and reach the snow-covered slopes of Mount Fuji. Upon arrival, stop at the Fuji Visitor Centre to learn about the area’s stunning geography and local culture, aided by displays of beautiful artwork done by local residents.

Ascend 7,000 feet (2,300 m) to get an up-close view of the mountain’s majestic peak and its surrounding landscapes from 5th Station – the highest point accessible by vehicle. Savour a tasty Japanese-style lunch at a local restaurant before you head back down to board a scenic cruise around Lake Ashi. While on board, snap as many photos of the postcard-perfect Mount Fuji as you can.

At the end of your tour, enjoy a scenic ride back to the city centre.

We enjoyed our guide and the informationhe provided along the way but the trip felt very rushed with only a short amount of time to really take in the scenery at our designated stops. The trip may benefit from maybe playing a video during the rides between locations and maybe offering short stops for snacks related to the areas we are driving through. The long stretches of inactivity to then rush out to see something for 10-15 minutes to only get back on a bus again left us slightly disappointed. The views were amazing and the guide very accomodating and knowledgeable.

Mt. Fuji was beautiful, our guide was very polite, helpful and knowledgeable. Our afternoon activities (the cruise and ropeway) were cancelled as bad weather forced them to shut down, but they arranged alternative plans for us in the Hakone area which added a bit more variety to the day.

It was a reasonably priced tour, but the weather was very poor and so much time was spent on the bus. The biggest pro of the tour is they have a lot of built in backup plans because weather can be somewhat unpredictable so we did have a good time despite heavy fog.
