Description

Discover two of Italy's most celebrated attractions: the ancient city of Pompeii and the volcano that unleashed its fury on the city in 79 AD – Mount Vesuvius. Explore the ruins of what was once a prosperous town in the Roman Empire and enjoy a hike to the crater of the breathtaking volcano.

Journey from Naples and head to the now infamous town of Pompeii, nestled in the sweeping shadow of the giant Mount Vesuvius. Go back in time to see what Roman life would have been like 2,000 years ago as you stroll around the incredibly well-preserved ruins. Listen as your expert guide regales you with stories of the people that lived there and the shocking truth of their demise.

Then your adventure continues as you make your way on to Mount Vesuvius itself. Dominating the Bay of Naples, this is the only active volcano on mainland Europe – it still poses a threat to the people of the surrounding area. Take the opportunity to trek to the top of the volcano and peer into its enormous crater.

It was an incredible experience, my family and I loved every bit and we highly recommend going on this tour. It was the perfect mixture of engaging and informative, giving an excellent overview of the ancient ruins.

Pompei visit was good. Guide spoke well in English aand was very informative. Good pace throughout the tour. My Vesuvius part of tour was not as informative. More or less we were taken to Vesuvius and left on our own

We drove through Naples on a comfortable bus and stopped off at a couple of hotels, which gave people time to take photos on the promenade. The tour of Pompeii was short (about one hour and a half) but the tour guide was passionate and knowledgeable about the site. We listened to his explanations via supplied earphones, which was clever since it was not always easy to hear. We learned a lot about the history of Pompeii and had the opportunity to take lots of photographs. The group sat down for lunch and were split into smaller groups to head off on different tours. The lunch was tasty but uncomfortably long, since the transport for Vesuvius arrived before the food was even served. This could maybe be prevented by serving 1 portion instead of 2-3. This gave us little time to climb, as we were no sooner up there before we had to come down. We also did not see our group again and embarked Vesuvius on our own (not a tour). However, this was still an altogether incredible experience.
