“The Colonial House was absolutely perfect in every way. Dawn is an exceptional host—warm, attentive, and truly welcoming. Fort ligonier, while being in these united states, was decommissioned in 1766, making it a British military fort. A young George Washington was stationed there alongside an ailing John Forbes. In the 8 years that it existed as a garrison, it was never taken by enemy (French or Indian) force, though the Indians attempted to take the fort twice. The French never tried, and in fact, gave up nearby fort duquesne to Forbes' invading forces. I like to think that those spikes were a good reason the fort never fell, but it probably had a lot more to do with muskets.
