Perfect location for an amazing holiday in Lucca
Our stay at Casa Emma has been by far the best apartment rental experience we’ve had. From our initial communications at the time of booking to the greeting at the front door (and all the helpful info shared about Lucca and its surroundings) to our final good-bye, Renata and family were the most excellent hosts. The apartment is very well equipped, with all of the little things thought of in advance, and is very much a home away from home. We stayed for one week but wished we could have extended our stay. Lucca and Casa Emma were so much more than we expected, and we can’t wait to return to both!

Best location for Lucca
I cannot say enough about this property. The host family are awesome and sooooo accommodating! They helped us the entire trip organizing tours, getting around town, getting lost, and an amazing property with 2 bedrooms, two full baths with modern shower etc, and loft sofa bed, fully stocked kitchen appliances, full guide for city written by host with everything you need to know and get around Lucca. The location is literally across the street from the walled city entrance. The bathrooms have hair dryers, flat iron, hair products, beard trimmer, heated towel rack, great air system, coffee pot which is rare, and we cannot say enough about our hosts. My travel partner got lost behind the wall when trying to parking the car (which is literally one block from apartment) and our host hunted for her for over an hour to get her safely back. Those round abouts are complicated ! Any way we cannot praise this enough with only draw back was it is on 3 rd floor of beautiful building with no lift (elevator) … now don’t panic like me cause their Dad or brother will carry your bags up and down for you … we were traveling for a month so we had big bags and are in our 60’s so we’re over whelmed by stairs…. Now if your are handicapped or have cardiac issues this is not the place for you …. Otherwise look forward to buns of steel after staying there for 10 days !! And great new friends with the host family!

Lovely apartment in great location
We loved staying at this very comfortable apartment in beautiful Lucca. Renata and her son met us on arrival with a lovely homemade cake. They were very welcoming and provided lots of useful information. The apartment was perfect for our family of four, it was well equipped and in a great location with easy access to a public car park (if needed) and a short walk into the old centre of Lucca. The train station was a 10 minute walk and so visiting other places such as Florence and Pisa was simple to do. We had a fabulous time and would gladly stay there again if we return to the area.

Great launch pad
Super location for access to Lucca and to branch out north or south throughout Italy. Stayed 7 weeks with multiple family groups and lodging served our purpose perfectly. Host and her family all were great, helpful and knowledgeable and made it easy to stay. Only reservation, and this was circumstantial was noise of the location due to proximity to road, work within and next door to the property and at the end preparations for upcoming comic-game huge convention. Even so I would stay there again.

I took my soon to be eighteen year old daughter away to Italy for the first time. Lucca had been recommended to us and we found the location of this beautiful apartment to be perfect. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city but close enough for easy walking and access to the train station. It truly felt like a cool, tranquil haven after a busy day of walking the cobbled streets. Modern, beautifully decorated/furnished and well equipped. Renata was so helpful and welcoming and provided some great recommendations during our stay. She even chased us down the road to the train station on our departure because we had left sunglasses behind! An all round fantastic experience which I would love to repeat!

Wonderful stay in a beautiful apartment
Three of us stayed in the apartment: my partner, her father and me. The accommodation is spacious, clean and ideally located just outside Lucca’s ancient walls. It also has AC which was a godsend during our late June holiday. Renata was the perfect host: baking a cake to welcome us (gratefully received post-midnight after a Ryanair delay); responding in a timely manner to my many WhatsApp requests and providing us with insightful restaurant recommendations - even making bookings on my behalf due to my limited Italian. Thanks again, Renata. See you next year!

The loft was clean and as described. The location was convenient to get to and from the train for day trips but yet had easy access to the core of Lucca. Our host was communicative and welcoming. Convenient and clean!
The apartment was sparkling clean and convenient to the buses and train. It was equipped with everything we needed to cook with, if we cared to. There's a great supermarket within walking distance. There was an entrance into the wall surrounding Lucca right across the street. Our host greeted us upon arrival and her husband thankfully carried up our luggage the 51 steps to the apartment. Yes. I said 51 steps. She had prepared a wonderful cake for us to enjoy, which we did. Her responces were quick and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

The apartment is on the top floor, 51 steps to climb each time you return to the property. Could do with another sofa or more comfy chairs as there was 5 of us and only 4 comfy seats. Other than that the apartment was very well equipped for everything, kitchen utensils, chrome cast television, spacious accommodation. Lovely decor, bathrooms very clean and a wonderful powerful shower. Offices on the floor below so no noise at night times. You could however hear the cars on the street as the property is situated on a main road.

Fabulous Stay
Renata’s apartment was a great place to stay. It was directly across the street from one of the entrances to the old city. Renata and her husband met us at the apartment and spent at least a half hour showing us the apartment and orientating us to the area. She left us a tort that was delicious and said that she was available by phone for any questions or needs that we might have during our stay. The apartment was fantastic. The kitchen was fully equipped with all necessary items and the entire apartment was tastefully decorated. Renate even made dinner reservations for us on the night before we left. The apartment is within driving distance of Viareggio, San Gimignano, Siena and many other locations in Tuscany. I would highly recommend this property for a great stay in Lucca.

Great to be outside the walls
Though outside the walls of Lucca, this fantastic apartment could not be more convenient. Across the street from the entrance through the walls, you have the benefits of proximity and the quiet away from the streets of the downtown. Comfortable, spacious, clean, welcoming place to stay. A lovely apartment just outside the walls of Lucca. Our stay was just perfect in every way.
The accommodations were quaint, clean & comfortable in every respect. Renata was so helpful & attentive to us throughout our stay. We were directly across the street from the wall which was so convenient. Our time there ( 2 weeks) was easy, relaxing & enjoyable. I would highly recommend this apartment for 2-4 people traveling. A special place
Excellent, charming, friendly reliable and informative host. The apartment is quite clearly a source of pride and the decor, cleanliness and design of the apartment reflect this. The pictures are very accurate. This place is lovely. It is at the top of a couple of flights of stairs and there is no lift so anyone with accessibility issues would struggle. There is also some traffic noise when in the front bedroom but nothing that would cause me not to return. The location is excellent. We went to see a show at the summer festival and the apartment is 5 minutes walk away from the Piazza. Also a 5 minutes walk away from the train station with great access to many other incredible places this area of Italy has to offer - a great base to explore from. Lucca itself is also a really beautiful place to stay with plenty to do and explore. If I ever return to this area of Italy I will look immediately at the availability of this apartment . Great location, well equipped apartment!
The apartment is very nicely renovated, had everything we needed. There was public parking very close by also. The location is great, minutes to walk to the gates of Lucca. Renata ,the contact for the apartment made a lovely cake for us and had a bottle of Prosecco chilled waiting for us! She was also very helpful with dinner reservations, directions, and other tips on travel , parking, train information, to local sites that were great time and money savers!

Perfect apartment for a visit to Tuscany
I hadn't been to Tuscany for 30 years, so when the lockdowns finished I took the opportunity to revisit this part of Italy. I'm very glad I chose Lucca as a base, and this apartment in particular. We had a lovely time. The apartment is at the top of a 19th-century building, with a traditional staircase up to it. However, while the building is old the apartment is very modern, and has all the things you need for a comfortable stay. There are two very large bedrooms each suitable for a couple (and baby in cot if required), and there is also a gallery above the living room that my son loved sleeping in, as he could watch the TV from above if he wanted. The apartment is light and airy, and in late spring (when we were there) was warm including at night. No need for heating! The kitchen has everything you'll need if you want to prepare meals, and importantly for us has a washing machine and drying rack so we were able to travel with just hand luggage - a big plus for us! Our lovely host Renata even provided us with a lovely welcome cake when we arrived - very tasty! Another plus is the two decent sized bathrooms, which is great with teenagers. The showers were excellent. Even though it is outside the city walls, the apartment is perfectly placed; you are just a few moments from the main southern city gate; it's a great way to visit each day. There are 3 entrances near the apartment so you should try all of them. You might think that the main road and railway is a problem, but actually you can't hear a thing inside even in rush hour. And when the traffic is busy there is an underpass to the city about 50 m from the front door. If you need a supermarket, there is an Essalunga 5 minutes' walk south, and there are smaller supermarkets inside the walls. We chose the apartment because it was very close to the train station (3 minute walk) which is great for day trips. I would highly recommend Lucca and this apartment if you want to do day trips to other places. We were able to do easy day trips to Pisa, Firenze and the Cinque Terre; Pisa is particularly close, and it's about 1 hour from Pisa airport to get to this apartment. Out of Pisa, Florence and Lucca I would definitely stay in Lucca. It's more relaxed! Renata was a great host and provided many recommendations, particularly for restaurants.

The apartment is beautiful and very cozy. It’s clean, modern and perfectly appointed with everything you need to enjoy your stay. The location is great - just across the street from an entry into the walled city. We didn’t have a car, and never needed one. Everything, including the train station was within easy walking distance. Our host was always available to answer any questions, including where we could find the best ricotta pie (cheesecake). Then she called the bakery and had them reserve one for us. We’d go back to this apartment in a heartbeat 💗

A Full-provision Delightful Apt
Renata and Walter were superb hosts, waiting for us and providing muscle power to take our suitcases to the top floor and to the delightful Apartment Emma. She provided all kinds of helpful information, including a restaurant she frequents often, the Bucadisantantonio, which became the lovely and tasty setting for our 50th anniversary dinner. We were so happy with the location across the street from the old walled section. Thank you Renata for being a great host and for the wonderful lemon cake!!

Wonderful holiday in Lucca
Had a wonderful experience staying in this apartment and enjoying the very lovely town of Lucca. Everything about the apartment was first class from the size to the overall condition and facilities. Air conditioning in all the apartment was a must with the high summer tempretures . Location was perfect for the old town where we spent all our evenings walking the walls and enjoying the huge choice of excellent restuarants. Also only 5 minutes walk the train station which we used to go on daily trips. Renata was a great contact to have always available to guide us with any questions we had about the area. We had a wonderful 10 days in Lucca and having this apartment made it all the more special.

Perfect apartment
A very nice apartment with everything you need. Everything was in good condition and the landlord did everything to make our stay perfect. Location is rated four because of the lack of sea. Not very far away, but anyway. Perfect location near the old town of Lucca. We can really recommend this apartment!

Family vacation in Lucca
The property is very comfortable and just a short walk to the old town. We were warmly greeted by Rinata who brought a delicious Italian lemon cake for us to enjoy. She spent quite a long time with us giving us useful information on shopping, restaurants and parking instructions. I would recommend this property - the only negative is that parking is 8 Euro per day. A vehicle is not needed for this location because the train station is a short walk and prices are reasonable going to Pisa and Florence. Thank you Rinata for making our stay a very pleasant one.

This is the cheapest and is 5 minutes from the center and 100 meters from the apartment. Ultimately the maximum weekly parking cost (if we never remove the parking car) is € 48. The beautiful design in a historic district was perfect for our needs. It’s location is easily walkable from bus and train stations. It’s view of the wall is spectacular in day and night lightning. Quaint and cozy place to stay off the beaten path in Lucca!
Very clean and shows better than the pictures! Renata greeted us with her husband and a huge smile and warm welcome and showed us around and gave us our keys. Lucca is the perfect place for a starting point with the train station just a short walk away to visit various parts of Tuscany. Renata had great restaurant suggestions and even made a reservation for us at her friend's restaurant, Ristorante Giglio. We enjoyed the beautiful city of Lucca within the walls which was just a short walk across the street. It is located on a busy road so you have to be careful crossing or just cross at the light, but totally worth it and very safe, especially walking through at night. We will definitely come back to Lucca again and hope to stay at Lavinia's place in the future. Thank you for your hospitality and wealth of information.

Lovely holiday
We had a lovely time in this gorgeous apartment. The flat was well equipped with beautiful furnishings and is very convenient for the town of Lucca as well as the rail station. We visited Pisa and Florence which can be done as day trips due to the good train service. Lucca is a very nice town with plenty to see and do and a range of good restaurants. Perfect location and all the comforts of home!
Having stayed in many apartments around Lucca for over many years. Emma is at the top or the list for my wife and I. Easy walk to shopping, parking, and the train station. Everything one needs to make them comfortable during the stay in Toscana.

Great location, beautiful apartment.

Beautifully appointed condo only a short walk to walled city.
A wonderful condo close to walled city. Able to utilize large fridge and stove for a few meals in. Bedrooms large with comfortable beds. One larger bathroom and one very small but still manageable. Renata very helpful and kind enough to bring us a lovely cake at check in. Would definitely recommend for 4 people.

We had a lovely holiday at apartment Emma in Lucca. We had everything we needed in this lovely plac.
Apartment Emma is located just across the road from the entrance to the walled city of Lucca and the car park is just a short walk away. The apartment was beautifully presented with everything we needed. We stayed in this lovely apartment for 10 nights and we really had a great time. This was our first visit to Italy and we hope to come back here again soon because 10 nights didn’t feel like enough. Thanks Renata for your nice welcome and for the delicious cake and your patience in waiting over two hours for us to find the apartment. My fault as I took the Lucca road from the airport I should have headed for Pisa first then picked up the signs for Lucca. Next time I will know how to get there without getting lost. I found driving in Italy straight forward and the roads are very good. We drove to le Spezia and picked up the train to the Cinque Terre what a beautifully place. Thanks Renata for your recommendation. We also had a day out at the beach and travelled to Bagni di Lucca. We had some nice dinners out in lucca with plenty of choices. There is also a very good supermarket round the corner although I found it more convenient going by car. A very good apartment in a very good location.

Well situated for exploring Lucca
The apartment is well situated for exploring Lucca. We found that it was well equipped and was clean and comfortable with wonderful air conditioning which was very welcome. There was a nice welcome from Renata and her husband and we appreciated the water and the cake. We would recommend this apartment.

Great location with excellent accommodations
We selected this rental for its location and I am so glad we did. This home is beautifully updated and had plenty of room for our party of 6 plus air conditioning that kept us cool in the hot July heat. My family has stayed in many vacation rentals and this one is amongst the best. Not only are the accommodations top notch, but the owner is outgoing and kind as well. Renata and her husband met us at our arrival and departure. It is clear that they take pride in their rental and are so gracious. Renata left us a delectable lemon cake and wine from her family vineyard to enjoy. We greatly enjoyed our time in the rental, which is just outside the walled city of Luca and within 10 minutes by foot to a grocery store. Parking is close by and is only $5 per day. We used this rental as a jumping off point for our visit to the Cinque Terre, Portofino, snorkeling, and hanging out on the beach. Thank you for a lovely stay!

A Trip Highlight
My friend and I were on a girl's trip, and wanted to spend time away from the over-touristy cities in Italy. We selected Lucca for it's location close to Tuscany and Florence, but away from the heart of the action. We loved our time in Lucca, and the apartment was the icing on the cake. When we arrived, we met Renata at the building entrance. Her husband helped us with the luggage since the flat is in the attic area of the building. The flat was perfect. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were quiet, there were plenty of supplies in the kitchen (not that we cooked much with that great food). Renata gave us some great recommendations for meals, and left us with a delicious cake and a great bottle of wine. The location was ideal. Outside the walled portion of the city, but across the street from an entrance to the city. Walking distance to the grocery store and an AVIS car rental. There was a parking lot about 100 yards from the apartment for the days that we had the car, and it only cost 5euro per night to park. The apartment was everything we hoped it would be.

Lucca has it all!
We arrived by train from Pisa airport, turned left as we left the station walked a few hundred meters to be met at the property by the owners mother Renata and her husband. Across the road we could see the walled old city of Lucca. A quick tour of the very well presented property and some helpful local information from Renata and we were ready to explore but not before a cup of tea and a generous slice of the home made cake Renata had brought as a welcoming gift. (there was also a free bottle of wine from their own vineyard which we would enjoy later). Everything you could need for your stay is within walking distance even a local Avis car hire was just 10 minutes away. I would recommend this property to anyone seeking comfortable quality accommodation there are 3 flights of stairs to consider but this is good for helping to offset the pizza, pasta and gelato you will be tempted to consume. The real test is would we go back? The answer is yes,

One of the best rentals!
We traveled for two months with our 2 daughters (9 and 12) through Portugal, Italy, France and the UK, and stayed in 7 different rentals. Appartamento Emma was one of the very best. Renata and her husband met us on day 1 with a delicious cake, a bottle of wine and every bit of information we could possibly need. The apartment itself is incredibly well outfitted—more so than many of the places that we stayed in that were actually people's primary residences. We also loved the location. It's literally across the street from the walls, so parking is easy but you can get into the old city in a minute. Rent this apartment. You won't regret it.

Lovely spacious apartment.
The apartment is comfortable and very well equipped. The location just outside the old town wall is very convenient (quite noisy in morning rush hour). We were met on arrival by Renata who welcomed us warmly with a delicious cake and wine from the family vineyard.

Beautiful Apartment in Lucca.
From the moment we arrived to Apartment Emma we could tell we were going to have a great stay. We were greeted on arrival by Renta who had set out a lovely welcome gift of wine and orange cake which did not last too long with two boys aged 14 and 11. Our stay also coincided with the Rolling Stones Concert and the apartment was located in the concert venue which required a lot of security passes which our host tirelessly organised for us so we could tour the town with ease. Nothing was too much trouble. The apartment itself is a two minute walk to the old town. It is modern, tastefully decorated and has everything you need for a great stay. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms excellent and living spaces abundant. Both Renata and Lavian were excellent to deal with and we would recommend this apartment for anyone wanting to visit Lucca.

Comfortable, clean and convenient
Apartment Emma is a perfect home base from which to explore Tuscany. Its a short 5 minute walk to get within the city walls of Lucca and easy driving (or train) access to Pisa, Florence, the Cinque Terre or other delightful towns in the area. The apartment is very clean, comfortable and so convenient for a family. We enjoyed the ability to make breakfast (the kitchen is well equipped) or have a snack without having to always frequent a restaurant. Also appreciated the washer to do laundry onsite as we arrived after 5 days elsewhere in Italy! The apartment owners are very responsive to any issues that may occur. Thank you also Renata for the wonderful cake and bottle of wine- was very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed them. We would recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to explore Lucca and the surrounding area. Donna & Richard
