One of the best properties I have visited
Gianfranco is a superb host, he was waiting for us on arrival and gave us a guided tour of the property to make sure we were familiar with everything. A very kind man who provided a welcome basket of his own Olive oil and local wine. The property is excellent, the location and views superb and everything a group wanting to relax in Tuscany could ask for. If you want to walk in the area, the village of Quota with an excellently stocked local shop is 1.5 miles away and there are track through the valley to neighbouring villages if you want to go off the beaten track. The Town of Poppi is about 3.5 miles away and is well worth a visit, great local cafe's and stores in abundance. Poppi station will provide rail travel to Florence and beyond if you do not want to do too much driving so no excuses not to go and explore Tuscany.

Our Amazing 3 Weeks in Poppi, Tuscany!
We had so much fun at this charming farmhouse villa! Our host/owner, Gianfranco, was so accommodating, and his response time was quick. He helped us find a driver for some trips that we did around Tuscany. He found us a wonderful chef that came to us twice for real Italian cooking classes. The house was spacious and fit our friends and family well. We brought our grandchildren and Gianfranco provided a crib & highchair. The property was absolutely beautiful & the history of the family is so interesting. We felt immersed in the Poppi culture, and the small shops in town welcomed us with open arms. The weather was a little colder than we expected so we needed layers in the morning and during the night. We made amazing memories and plan to return! Thank you Gianfranco and Poppi!

Lovely house set in substantial private grounds in a stunning location
Casa Fantone is an idyllic rural jewel. Although the substantial house is comfortable, the grounds are those of a country house so you are pretty much undisturbed. Not only that, set high on a bank of the Casentino valley, the views are breathtaking, particularly at sunrise with mist over the towns below. The host is charm and kindness personified, coupled with the common sense of someone who has seen it all before - a treat in its own right.

Great villa with super location
We stayed in this lovely villa for one week in October. It was twelve of us ages between 7 and 70 and everyone had a brilliant time. We wished we spent more time just relaxing in the villa and the garden. The views are fantastic! There was plenty to do in the garden. Our kids have enjoyed using the table tennis, bar football, the football/basketball area and our son loved the swings. Everything was spotless clean in the house, even all the areas outside were very clean which we don't usually see in the villas. We loved sitting on the balcony for breakfast and admire the views, we also loved the fireplace. Gianfranco the owner was very helpful from the time we booked the villa all the way to the end. Nothing was trouble for him. He greeted us on our arrival and was very helpful every day, he organised the mini bus for us to go on the wine tour so our day went very smoothly. Gianfranco brought all the wood for the fireplace for us and also lovely vegetables from his garden. Two evenings we had Stefania (who was recommended by Gianfranco) cooking dinner for us. The food was delicious and it was plenty left for us to have for lunch and dinner the next day. We would definitely stay in that villa again if we come to this area. A Slice Of Paradise
We stayed 2 weeks. Week 1 had 5 adults and 2 young children. Week 2 we added 2 more adults. There was plenty for all to do. The views were spectacular. The owner was wonderful and so accommodative. The pool was refreshing and clean. Parking was easy. Stephania came to the villa to give us a cooking lesson, served and cleaned up. Perfect stay. Gratzie Gianfranco!

Magical!
Casa Fantone is a dream come true of renting a villa in Tuscany! The villa has everything you need. The views are breathtaking and the fruit and vegetable garden is fantastic. Paradise in Poppi
Words to describe our family stay at Casa Fantone are hard to find in a dictionary. All the previous guests" comments capture what a very special experience is provided in such a unique property in a breath taking location and region of Tuscany. Great host, great accommodation, a long list of special extras such as fresh vegetables and fruit from the garden, play facilities for the grand children, wonderful views and the salt water swimming pool and so much more.. The big bedroom was a special hit for 4 grandsons Thank you Gianfranco for preserving such a lovely family property and sharing it with visitors from around the world. We were so sad to leave you but have lifetime memories to hold on to and, as our 6 year old said when he first arrived, Mama Mia! Ciao

Amazing house, view and experience!
Our family had an amazing week at Casa Fantone. We woke every day to a breathtaking sunrise and enjoyed amazing views all day long. The photos don’t do justice to the home and the property (and the organic vegetables we enjoyed most days from the garden on the property). We highly recommend you visit, we will definitely be making a return trip!

A fantastic place to stay
Gianfranco and his wife are wonderful, this is the second time we have stayed at this property. The location is wonderful, the house is spotless, it is well stocked. It is close to many wonderful towns and restaurants. Gianfranco and his wife had us for lunch and cooked us all an amazing meal. It is a wonderful place for families. Our kids are now all adults and love staying here. We will all be back agian.

The property was all the write up said and more, from when we arrived it was perfect Gianfranco was there to greet us with some produce from his garden, some wine and passatta he had made in the kitchen. The holiday was a short term break for 7 of us, 4 adults and 3 children from 14 to 10 years it suited them all. Gianfranco left the pool open for us, it was chilly in the pool but then it was october, we did brave it twice. Within two days of being at the villa we felt relaxed and wanted to come back for another holiday. The rooms were clean and plenty of room for everyone to sit and chat or eat together. We would recommend the accommodation to anyone , in the summer it would be perfect with the pool as well. We did go out for a couple of days but because the villa and grounds were so lovely we were happy to stay and relax at the villa.

Best Vacation Spot Ever
We had the most wonderful time here for 2 weeks with our family. We were a party of 7, 2 of which were children. The property has so much to offer for everyone, most of the time we wanted to cook, relax and just be there. Gianfranco and his wife are the most gracious hosts, sharing their bountiful produce from the estate. The views are outstanding and you can’t understand how spectacular they are until you see it in person. We visited many other places while there, and it was a great starting point. We were so sad to leave but plan to come back again. Thank you so much to Gianfranco, we loved living la dolce vita and we couldn’t have enjoyed it so much without your hard work.

60th Birthday Bash
We have been home for a week now, our stay at Casa Fantone seems like a wonderful dream. Eight adults and 4 children had a wonderful holiday, the pool with its view over the Tuscan hills was wonderful. Gianfranco was very helpful and dealt with any concerns quickly. The children loved picking vegetables from his vegetable plot. We would highly recomend this villa. Beautiful area.

Wonderful getaway...
We spent a week at this property in April. We were five adults, two teenagers, one toddler, and two babies. Our stay was fantastic. Except for the weather, which we had thought would be a bit warmer, everything was more or less what we had hoped for. Our host, Gianfranco, was great. He was flexible, accommodating, friendly, and helpful. He looked after us and one could really tell that he loved this property and the surrounding area. He left us a welcome basket with some olive oil, wine, and fruit for us to enjoy. He also delivered a cake that his wife had made for us. It was all quite nice. The property is fairly secluded, quiet, peaceful, and pretty. The views are great and there's plenty of room to play, relax, read, chat, or whatever. As many as we were, we never felt cramped or crowded. I believe we would all love to go back if and when we're afforded the opportunity. Thanks, Gianfranco...! :-)

Casa Fantone Fantastic
We spent a week with our children and 4 grandchildren aged 7 to 9. Everything at Casa Fantone was as promised and more. Gianfranco is the perfect host. He shared his wine, his olive oil, and the herbs and vegetables in his garden. He was always available to give us any help we needed. The kids shared a large room with 4 beds, and the 3 adult couples had 3 nice rooms of their own. The house had amenities galore. The pool is large and has a breathtaking view. We made pizza in the pizza oven ( Gianfranco helped us learn how to use it) on the terrace overlooking the mountains and ate it right there on the terrace -- which seated us all. We grilled dinner on the big patio with a table under an awning that also seated us all. When the kids were not in the pool they were on the swings, the hammocks, the soccer field. They played ping pong and foosball. We made day trips to Sienna, Florence, Poppi, Arezzo. Gianfranco helped us find a place where locals take their children to enjoy nature and swimming holes. There is even a gnome park to see in the vicinity. This house is absolutely perfect for families with children as well as a group of adults who want a special Tuscan experience.

Amazing Family Vacation Spot
We were a family of 10 adults and a 4 year old. The property and owner were as advertised. Gianfranco was very helpful and yet unobtrusive. He met us at the property, provided breakfast at his home on our first morning and the night we arrived called ahead to a local family owned restaurant to ensure accommodation for our whole family. He also provided fresh herbs and greens from the organic garden on site and a welcome basket with wine and his homemade olive oil. It was a perfect vacation spot. We took day excursions to Venice, Lucca, Siena, Rome, Florence and Pisa. Venice is a 3 1/2 hour drive each way, but most of the rest are within 1 1/2 to 2 hours. We spent every other day on an excursion and the rest of the time at Casa Fantone. It was a perfect balance and we did not want to come home. We had 11 people together for 16 days and never had any issues. Lots of space for everyone and blessed to have the pool, soccer field, playground, ping pong, and foosball. You cannot go wrong with Casa Fantone and Gianfranco, both are amazing!

Truly a PARADISE vacation spot for our family
Casa Fontone is definitely a 5 star vacation place! The house and surrounding property overlooking the Casentino Valley were THE perfect place for our family of 9 while visiting Tuscany. My husband and I planned a trip for our two adult daughters and their families which included our sons-in law and three grandchildren ages 1, and 2, and 3. The property provided something special for all ages. The views were absolutely breathtaking! The design of the house was spacious and perfect for families who maintain different schedules. Those that preferred to sleep in could be away from the bustle of the main living area and early risers had access to the kitchen and main living area without disturbing the rest of the family. The lower apartment gave us access to the third bathroom making it easy for all of us to get ready for the day without having to wait on one another. All the bathrooms as was the whole house were updated and clean and the bedding was very comfortable. The fully equipped kitchen made meal preparations easy. Too, it was nice to have options for dining with nicely furnished balconies and patios both in the rear and the front of the house. Regardless of the time of day, we were able to enjoy the sunshine and beautiful surroundings. We were amazed at the vibrant beautiful blooming plants and landscaping. Honestly, we actually checked to make sure that they were real and they were! Our grandchildren loved the spacious yard, playground and fenced football area. The hammocks and apple orchard were also favorites. We experienced the beginning of the Casa Fontone's olive harvest which gave us an appreciation for their caring approach for the trees, olives and environment. Gianfranco, our landlord, could not have been more friendly, helpful and easy to work with from our reserving the property to departure. Upon our arrival, he presented a welcome basket of wine and a jar of his canned organically grown tomatoes. Delightful! He shared his potatoes and offered that we enjoy the fruit or vegetables all of which were 100% organically grown. On the October nights when the temperatures dipped, he provided firewood for the fireplace which kept us toasty warm throughout the night. Yes, it is easy to see why Gianfranco calls Casa Fontone his little paradise. The house, amenities, gardens, and view are amazing and we were happy to call his paradise our "home away from home". Thank you, Gianfranco, for your hospitality!

Beautiful villa, wonderful host, great location
The photos of the villa do not do it justice, the location is stunning with great views from the pool down the valley. Gianfranco is a wonderful host - nothing is too much trouble, from providing vegetables from his allotment, answering our questions and hosting us for a welcome breakfast to booking us into a restaurant on our first night. The villa is clean and spacious with a number of outside eating areas. We borrowed bikes, played basketball and football and made full use of all the facilities available to us. Although the villa is "away from it all", there are still plenty of things to do - eg visiting stunning medieval Poppi, as well as going further afield to Arezzo, Firenze and Siena, walking in the Pratomagna, eating in excellent local restaurants and going to a "Go Ape" style high ropes at Stia.

Stunning Tuscan villa with breath-taking views and generous owner
We had the most perfect time staying at Casa Fantone. From the minute we arrived, we were impressed with the level of care that the owner, Gianfranco, takes for the place. It was spotlessly clean throughout and very comfortably equipped. We were a party of 10 but the house can easily hold 12 and offers plenty of recreational spaces so that you always have somewhere to be alone should you wish to! We all adored the pool, which is the most stunningly situated that I have ever had the privilege to swim in. A particular highlight for me was waking up before the children to have a peaceful sunrise swim - bliss. The children also enjoyed the table football, ping pong, play area and football pitch. I particularly loved the hammocks with amazing views. Gianfranco is a very warm and generous host. We arrived to a HUGE basket of his homegrown vegetables and passata. Each day he would arrive in the early morning hours (before most of us were awake) to tend the garden, top up the pool and generally make sure all was perfect. He also invited us to his village so that he could buy the children an amazing gelato - a highlight ot the holiday! The location is great too. It's near to Poppi which has a lovely castle and good restaurants. We also visited Arezzo (a beautiful old town), Quota (a nearby village with a super osteria), Lake Tresimano and Cortona (definitely worth a visit). Mostly though, we just wanted to stay in beautiful Casa Fantone.

Wonderful week in gorgeous surroundings with a generous and considerate host
Casa Fantone is clearly a labour of love for Gianfranco - who has developed the property over time to ensure that his guests have a wonderful and relaxing time. The beautiful, secluded Tuscan setting is unparalleled in our experience and, though simple, the interior and facilities are comfortable and provide everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The pool, table tennis, table football and even the little gym provided hours of entertainment for our group. Other reviewers had mentioned Gianfranco and though we normally avoid properties where the owner is on hand, as we value privacy, I have to say that Gianfranco was one of the things that made our holiday so special. He was never intrusive, but available if required and generous with produce from his amazing vegetable patch. Additionally, when we had a problem with our hire car, and had no vehicle for a day, he helped with calling people for us, took two of us shopping in his own car, and helped us negotiate organising bus travel to Florence to collect a new car. Thank you, Gianfranco - we had a wonderful holiday and now understand why you have a 5 star rating after so many reviews!

Beautiful restored villa in Tuscany with panoramic views
Two families stayed together very comfortably and took advantage of all the villa had to offer including the swimming pool, ping pong table, hammocks, and even the outdoor stone pizza oven!! Come here to unplug your devices and get away from it all. There is plenty to explore close by—we explored the castle in Old Poppi—but it is also close enough to Florence to make a day trip easily. Get passes to the Uffizi and Academia in advance as they sell out!! We also visited towns of Arezzo and Siena from the villa—each about 1 to 1-1/2 hour drive. If you want to just enjoy the villa and skip the day trips, the pool with the view of the valley below is all you need!!

Just perfect
Casa Fantone offered our family exactly the authentic Tuscan experience we were seeking. It was the perfect location for our three generation family gathering that included eight adults and four school-age children. Surrounded by organic orchards and gardens, the house is wonderfully located on top of a hill with an outlook to the gorgeous Casentino Valley below. Gianfranco Dei is a most gracious host, welcoming guests and offering invaluable information about local resources. He has done an impressive job renovating the house to enhance its 200 year old heritage with large comfortable bedrooms and modern bathrooms. We were able to seat everyone around the kitchen family table or dine outdoors to enjoy the evening sunsets. The location offers the opportunity to take interesting day trips and come home to a refreshing swim in the beautiful hillside pool. Our two week stay offered us the opportunity to thoroughly relax as well as enjoy POPPI’s delightful purveyors when we shopped at the local bakery, butcher, wine and vegetable markets. And, of course, gelato! We wholeheartedly recommend Casa Fantone, and thank Gianfranco for our fantastic visit.

Wunderbares Haus und tolles Grundstück. Alles sehr urig, da es ein altes Bauernhaus ist. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet und es gibt einen gemütlichen Grillplatz. Die Umgebung ist ruhig und landschaftlich toll. Die Dörfer und Städte in der näheren Umgebung sind auch sehr schön. Man kann auch prima wandern. Der Vermieter ist sehr nett. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt mit 10 Personen sehr genossen!

ich habe mit Familie und Freunden hier meinen 60ten Geburtstag gefeiert und würde der Anlage gerne 5 Sterne plus vergeben. Der Gastgeber Gianfranco ist stets im Hintergrund da und unterstützt bei allem. Das Haus ist mega geräumig, sehr sauber und liegt einfach phantastisch. Der Ausblick vom Pool ist Atemberaubend. Wir hatten hier eine tolle Zeit und kommen gerne wieder.

Just great
Me and 5 other friends had a really great time at the house. Gianfranco is an outstanding host. He was there when he could help and gave us the privacy we wanted to at the rest of the time. The property has a lot of space a really nice view on the mountains and in the valley. It also offers a lot of activitys. There is a football field, a pool, table tennis, table football, a big kitchen, some fire places, a classic pizza oven build of stones and heated with fire and more. Nice supermarkets are reachable in 15 minutes by car. We are a group which can be loud some time. Because the house has no neigbors, we had no problem here. Gianfranco, thank you again! This is definitifely a recommandation.

Vi hadde en helt fantastisk uke hos Gianfranco i Poppi. Huset har en nydelig utsikt, og ligger i en nydelig del av Toscana. Huset var flott, med mange gode fasiliteter som passet godt også til barna. Her var det bare å nye livet! Hele familien storkoste seg hele uka, og vi sender en stor takk til Gianfranco som var en utrolig hyggelig vertsskap.

Sehr schönes Haus mit großartigem Grundstück
Das Haus und das Grundstück sind großartig und die vielen Möglichkeiten der Anlage und der tolle Blick ins Tal sind super. Gianfranco ist ein reizender, fürsorglicher Gastgeber, der alle Probleme schnell beseitigt. Etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig war seine fast tägliche morgendliche Anwesenheit. Allerdings wurden wir dann auch immer mit frisch geerntetem Gemüse versorgt. Die Aufteilung der Betten/ Räume war für uns aus der Beschreibung nicht ganz klar ersichtlich, das ist aber auch unser einziger Kritikpunkt.

wunderbarer Aufenthalt
wir haben das Haus für meinen 60. Geburtstag mit Familie und Freunde gebucht. Wir fahren seit ca 25 Jahren in Ferienhäuser nach Italien und Frankreich. Aber selten hat alles so gepasst. Das Haus super sauber - auch die Bäder. Dann natürlich der Pool und das gesamte Anwesen. Auch die Begrüßung durch Gianfranco mit Gemüse und Wein. Vielen Dank Petra und Klaus

Paradiesisch!
Wir (Großfamilie mit Oma, Opa, Tanten, Onkels, Kindern und Hund) hatten eine traumhafte Woche im "Casa Fantone"! Das Haus ist wunderschön gelegen und perfekt ausgestattet. Das Grundstück ist riesig und bietet wirklich jedem genug Platz zum Erholen (Hängematten, Bänke, Wiese, Pool) und Spielen (Fußballplatz, Spielplatz, Tischtennisplatte, Tischkicker). Außerdem gibt es einen Pizzaofen und eine Grillstelle. Gianfranco ist ein ganz besonderer Vermieter: freundlich, höflich, aufmerksam, hilfsbereit, bei Fragen immer erreichbar, stets bemüht, auch individuelle Wünsche möglich zu machen. Herzlichen Dank für diese außergewöhnliche Gastfreundschaft! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder! ♡

Tolles Haus bei Poppi
Das Haus hat eine tolle Lage mit einer traumhaften Aussicht und einen außergewöhnlichen Poolbereich. Der Vermieter ist sehr freundlich, hat uns frisches Gemüse aus seinem Garten gebracht und uns einen Tisch in einem sehr guten nahegelegenen Restaurant reserviert. Die Kinder (und wir Erwachsene) haben sich mit den vielen Spielmöglichkeiten auf dem riesigen Grundstück viel beschäftigt. Dankeschön Gianfranco für die wunderbare Urlaubswoche!

Wunderbares Ferienhaus in der Toskana
Wunderschön in der Toskana gelegenes Ferienhaus auf einem riesigen Grundstück, das keine Wünsche offen lässt. Räume und Grundstück sind sehr sauber und gut in Schuss, durch die super ausgestattete Küche konnte auch unsere große Gruppe (11 Personen) problemlos versorgt werden. Neben dem Pool ist das Haus mit vielen weiteren Annehmlichkeiten ausgestattet, von Fitnessraum über Tischtennis, Tischkicker und Sportplatz bis zu Grill und zahlreichen Sitzmöglichkeiten und Hängematten. Man merkt dass Gianfranco, dem Gastgeber, wichtig ist, dass seine Gäste sich wohlfühlen. Auch Organisation vorab und Check-In + Check-Out verliefen perfekt. Insgesamt eine sehr gute Wahl für eine schöne Zeit in der Toskana.

Une vue exceptionnelle sur les magnifiques collines de Toscane
Nous avons passé une excellente semaine dans cette maison située au calme sur les hauteurs de Poppi avec une vue exceptionnelle sur les collines de l'est de la Toscane. La propriété est parfaitement entretenue par Gianfranco dont l'hospitalité est remarquable. Je recommande vivement cette ancienne ferme complétement rénovée à quelques encablures de Florence, Arezzo, Sienne,...

Der Gastgeber behandelt die Kunden wie echte Freunde. Er ist immer da, wenn man ihn braucht, was allerdings nicht oft passiert, da alles perfekt ist. Die Aussicht, die Lage des Pools, Flora und Fauna, die Ruhe und die Villa sind traumhaft.

Abbiamo trascorso un Capodanno con amici, il Sig. Gianfranco è stato super disponibile e gentile. La casa molto spaziosa e ben curata. Ottima pulizia. Peccato non aver potuto usufruire della piscina visto il periodo.
