I loved it here - from the moment I drove up and saw the house across the lawns I think I fell a little in love with this charming corner of Warwickshire.
This is a genteel hotel, a place of old school charm, discretion and calm. Every angle revealed something of beauty from the old church, to the ancient Cedar tree, to the panelled rooms, to the Yew garden.
I found my room very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom modern and elegant. The breakfast good and abundant. I ate in the restaurant one evening and perhaps this would be my only point of criticism - I found the dinner menu disappointing as there seemed to be few choices, however the food was good; beautifully presented and tasty but I would say the portions seemed small and the price ratio seemed a little high to me. The wine list I found poor, just the usual suspects you would find on a pub menu.
For me Billesely is all about the spaces you are able to exist in. Sitting on the benches under the Weeping Willows, reading by the stone mullioned windows in the public rooms, so many mesmerising and embracing corners.
This is a wonderful and memorable location. So beautiful in fact I didn’t actually leave for 2 days to venture anywhere else; the outside world suddenly seemed so ordinary, so irrelevant compared to the sense of well-being Billesely afforded me. I will definitely return.
