Jianguo Garden Hotel is now the place I would stay when I visit Beijing. The hotel is about 20 years old and its facilities are showing its age. What makes up for this "weakness" is the reasonable price for its rooms, and the excellent location--right in the heart of Beijing where the wonderful malls are, and close to a subway station, from where one can get to everywhere in the mega city. Above all, the staff makes an extra effort to accommodate guests' needs. For example, the young man at the reception took time to get my express mails taken care of; and my request to check-out at 2:00 p.m. was gracefully accommodated. I only expected this kind of service at 5 or 6 star hotels where I have to pay much much more.
