Golf weekend
I was disappointed that, although there seemed to be very few guests staying, we didn't have a sea view. Instead we had a view of the back of the driving range. Although the room was overall very clean, the dark carpet had obvious bleach spills and stains all over, and new carpets were definitely needed. One of our bath towels had obviously been used to wipe the floor.

Good accommodation close to town and facilities good, restaurant facilities are aimed at golf course users so could be better, I used local town short walk but no footpath out of the golf course.

quiet location with great rooms
Very peaceful location in the middle of a golf course. Bar and driving range all very close. We cycled there, so if you don’t have a car there is a limitation what to do in the evening. The room was very clean and sealed for our arrival.

Lovely Lodge. Unfortunately we had no water in the morning and we had the merest of washes and no showers. This may have been due to the bad weather but there was no compensation. Meals at the cafe were good and prompt. Service there on the whole good. Rooms comfortable but small touches like water glasses and small tablet soaps would have improved the experience. The only soap was a hand wash. A single hand towel for 2, although 2 large bath towels.

They're were lots of dead house flies in the room. I was moved to a different room. There were still 6 flies buzzing throughout night. Couldn't sleep well at all. I expect my money to be refunded. Really not a pleasant experience.

Finding the property was not too difficult, we did drive past in the first instance. It looks like it has a lot of character on the outside, and inside was clean but you can tell its dated. Check in was a different location to the lodge, and the lodge is a detached building in the middle of a field. Staff was lovely at check in but are only available up to a certain time and then you have to call an emergency number if you need anything. Only 1 towel provided but unable to contact reception to ask for another. I believe it was us and another couple so it felt a bit spooky after sunset. Unfortunately our stay was only for 2 hours and we did not spend the night as had an emergency so had to head back home.

Decent stay
Decent stay at the Thornbury lodge. Rooms are a little dated but overall beds are very comfortable and staff are very friendly. Only issue was with shower which would overflow into the floor which could be better.

1 night business stay, but couldn't fault it.
Nice clean room, good shower and comfy bed. Arrived later and left early. Only stayed one night, as a stop over for business but would definitely use agin. Plus golf course and driving range literally on the doorstep so pack your clubs...

A pleasant surprise
Gorgeous setting, beautiful grounds. The lodge itself could do with a bit of a spruce up, but overall we enjoyed our one night stay. The staff are really friendly and helpful as well.

This is a pay and play golf course not a hotel. The lodge bar restaurant closes at 21h00 in the evening and there is little else to do other than sit in your room. The room was adequate rather than grand.

Favourite Bristol Based Hotel
Great Golf hotel. Lovely food, friendly staff, lovely clean room. Great full course plus a nice par 3 golf course. If im in the area i always stay at the Thornbury Lodge

Pretty location and property. We booked an upgraded room however the size didn't reflect this. The room was modern and warm, yet the bathroom was in bad repair. Id have put the ratings higher if it wasn't for the most important part of a hotel being appalling.... The bed! Not only a double (2 twins zipped into 1) but the mattress was old and tired, springs in your back. A very uncomfortable nights sleep. Shame really as with repair and new beds it could be a lovely upmarket place to stay over your medicinal average hotels.

Couple stay over
Quick overnight stay in comfortable period building. Room was gorgeous. Only fault was bathroom light being motion sensitive and didn't pick up when people in shower so went off. Lovely setting though and what a beautiful peaceful setting with gold course around and river estuary in sight

i was very happy with the first room i was offered, until i realized it was close to a boiler room and a constant boiler noise was not acceptable for me to have a good nights rest. i had no choice to inform the receptionist,who was very approachable kind and understanding, she quickly telephoned the manager who suggested i be swapped to another room, as the boiler noise was going to continue throughout the night, this was done with the minimum of fuss and i was not made to feel a nuisance in any way, the room i was shown to was every bit as comfortable as the one i needed to leave and i had a very enjoyable two night stay. i would most definitely use this accommodation again. Thank you Thornbury Lodge

- Hotel check-in was not pleasant, attendant was not friendly or knowledgeable of what was available. - The bed must of had dustmites/other bugs, as I came out in many spots across my body after 1 night, which I have never had from any other hotel stay - Room was old and let lots of light in from common area, bathroom & windows...needs improving for a good nights sleep!

Nice accommodation on the golf course.
Check in at the club house, go to the bar and they will have your details there. My room was clean and the bed comfortable. Great place for a peaceful stay.

lovely room - shame food not up to same standard.
Stayed overnight after family funeral. Lovely,quiet, spacious room, with huge, comfortable bed & everything you'd need. One slight problem was bathroom light, which came on automatically on entering room: if one person went in during night, no way to prevent person still sleeping being woken up by bright light. Also, extractor didn't work. Food in bar not great & cost of breakfast rather shocking: we chose to have egg or beans on toast + extra tomatoes & mushrooms (at £1 each). We got half a tomato & 1 mushroom each!

Very quiet and ideal for golfing!
Stayed one night but arrived late at 10.30pm....unfortunately this proved too late and we had a few problems locating the lodge and the reception because it was all shut. This is in the middle of a golf course and the lodge was part of the complex of buildings including the bar, pro shop etc. The breakfast in the bar was great though!
