Horrible!!!! They were not able to give me a key for my room so every time I left my room, I had to go to the front desk to ask them to let me in. One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a hotel. Shame on Expedia for doing business with a hotel that is unable to provide a key for the guest!!

You get what you paid for. I was looking for a nice stay with my husband and daughter and we did not get that. We have always stayed at a Motel 6 but none of the previous stays were as disappointing as the one in Carlsbad. Air conditioning did not work, the room smelled of cigarettes and the worse parts, cockroaches. When I got there a lady was complaining about the plumbing, fortunately that was not my case, but seeing all the trouble and arguments she was having with money reimbursement, I decided to suck it up and stay.

Property is really outdated. AC broke down was not working all night. We were al sweaty, called for fan but was told none available. Would not recommend!

Workers were great and helpful. Room floor was a little dirty, but not bad enough to change locations. Everything else was fine and accessible.

The motel was cheap and convenient, which was all I needed for a one-night stay. Staff was friendly and theres plenty of shopping/dining right down the street. Ocean is walking distance. Cleanliness and condition was below average and there was no basic amenities (microwave, fridge, toiletries) in the room or on site. Make sure to being your own shampoo/conditioner and dont plan on bringing leftovers back since you have no way to store or heat them up. Would I stay here again? Probably not.

The room was clean upon arrival, but the door was left open so I had to make sure that no one was in the room. My room was next to the office and I was assured it would be more quiet, but it was extremely loud. The staff who checked me in and out were very pleasant & helpful, but the overnight staff sounded like they were having a party and there were loud thumps against the connecting wall, with people coming & going being very noisy. Myself and another guest both checked out early due to the loudness & not feeling safe. I had traveled across the country and had stayed at other Motel 6’s, but this was not an enjoyable experience and I got maybe 2 hours of sleep after driving 12 hours.

Cockroaches in the room. Hair in the bathroom, dirty sheets. Literally spiders in the bed. I was able to get a refund but had no sleep and was exhausted the entire day until I was able to check in at another hotel. Don’t stay here if you can afford anything else.

The room was really small for one parent and two teenagers. At the time of booking I felt the room should be ok as we were to arrive very late and leave early the next day. They didn't have any rolling cots so it was a difficult adjustment to sleep three in the room. Not worth the hassle.

I was in room 239, back of the property. If you want to sleep at night do not be in this room. Interstate 5 is right behind and there’s traffic noice all night long. Also while there are curtains on the window it does not block out the 3 night lights that are right outside the room. Both nights there was an ongoing argument between a couple staying a couple doors down. They would start yelling at each other around 2 am and continuing for 30 minutes or so. The heater didn’t work which I needed since the sheets and blanket was so thin. The room is tired , there is a large crack in the sheet rock by the door, it looked like someone tried to break in at one time. When I was leaving there was a gentleman trying to get in his room , he appeared to either just get out of jail or had spent the night doing some serious drinking. Very incoherent. Would not recommend this place unless you were assigned a room up front and not in the back.

Reasonably priced room. Nothing fancy, just the basics. Heater didn’t work, but really didn’t need it. Walls were thin, and I could hear the room below me. It would be nicer if the vent in the bathroom could be cleaned!

Great location, great price, it's a motel 6 so don't expect five star accommodations. This is probably one of the better motel 6's. There's a restaurant next-door. It's walking distance to the beach and the grocery store. It has a pool. The rooms are clean enough and in ok condition. The property itself is a little rundown and could use an upgrade. For the price and location in Carlsbad it's a good value. The only issue that I had was the motel has a central vent system. You're not supposed to smoke in the rooms but people do so I woke up every morning to the smell of weed in my bedroom and had to open the door.
