Spent three nights at the Intercity in a business room. The hotel in itself is centrally located, a short walk from the train station and the pedestrian area where all the bars and restaurants are situated. The hotel appears to be very modern but not luxurious in any way. The staff are always pleasant and polite, can't fault them. The reason for my score is the room itself. Costing about 90 British pounds per night, I believe it is a hefty price for what it offers. It is comparable to the British chain Premier Inn, which offers far better value for money. I found the business room very basic, furnished with inexpensive bits and bobs, a bed with an uncomfortable mattress and a dreadful pillow (I asked for another one but it didn't change the bad sleeping). A good night sleep should be guaranteed to every customer, so I can condone the cheap furniture but not the cheap mattress and pillows. I was sleeping in the business room, don't want to think about the standard. The air conditioner was extremely chilling and not user friendly. Even after extensive studying I couldn't fathom how to increase the temperature in a satisfying way. Last but not least the breakfast. At 14 euros it's really expensive for the choice provided. Scrambled eggs very dry and not fluffy, a single toaster (with long queues to use it) and juice from concentrate. I would suggest to some of the board members of the Intercity, which prides itself on offering German hospitality, to work on further improvements.
