This has been a learning experience for me and I hope to clarify the misunderstandings for my past and future guests (though comparing with previous ratings they could form their own conclusions). . I would have preferred you communicate with me during your stay or even that you responded to my requests for discussion. One thing I have learned is that the owners rating of guests in various areas (communications, policies, cleanliness, rules) actually show up as a guest rating in VRBO when a reservation is made -- that your guest rating in VRBO was a 3.5* should have been a red flag for me up front. Management Fee - The "manager fee" you referenced was for the two additional adults you checked in with -- your reservation was for 6 and you checked in with 8 (2 extra adults) . I let you know that because it was the day of check in I could not easily adjust your reservation to reflect the unexpected increase and the closest menu match for additional payment was "management fee." You paid this additional charge knowing what it was for Eagles Rest is an authentic log home built next to the Kilcher Homestead - I believe the pictures accurately depict the bedrooms, so folks can check that. The bunk rooms allow for large and/or multigenerational families and folks are usually happy to be under one large roof together. My listing does not state ocean front but I do mention the beach hike. I will clarify that the distance is a mile. Also the Kilcher Homestead and the Living Museum non profit are separate entities (next door property) not part of the Eagles Rest property. The Living Museum offers tours of the Museum and self guided hikes for visitors and guests who choose not to do the Museum tour. This year the a $15 per adult contribution was requested for adults for the self guided beach walk tour. I am glad you were able to do the hike the first day but was not able to confirm with the tour manager that you paid for the 6 adults in your party -- I will pay the Museum your tour fee if that is confirmed. Most guests this summer signed up for the Museum tour which includes the beach hike or happily paid the contribution to the Museum for the hike (unlimited times during the stay.) There was a special event on August 31st which the family requested no guests or visitors and I could have communicated that to you as soon as I was told the previous week. I do include the information on ours and hikes in the advance instructions. When you say we were at the house constantly, I presume you are referring to accessing the supply shed 100 feet away from the house. I also texted and called to ask if we could go downstairs and retrieve a TV needed for the special event and you gave me permission to do so. I do request that guests strip their beds and start a load of laundry to save the cleaning ladies the laundry waiting time. This has not been an issue in the past. I wish you would have communicated during your stay and that your expectations could have been met.
