Cottage on the Farm

Welcome to The Cottage on the Farm. Our cottage is adjoining our farmhouse with two private entrances for guests to use.

The cottage is set over two floors comprising of a living room with decorative sandstone fireplace and kitchen downstairs. The staircase leads up to the bedroom with a double bed and small single bed creating an open plan family room with en suite.

Outside in the garden guests have the choice of two private seating area's to choose from.

please note dogs are not to be left unattended in the cottage or garden at anytime.

Amenities: Gas central heating. Electric oven and hob, washing machine, microwave, fridge freezer, TV with Freeview and built in dvd player, selection of books and dvds. Bed linen and towels included in your stay. Ample private parking. country cottage garden, including garden furniture and BBQ. One well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking inside the cottage. Local shop 1.5 miles, real ale pub 1 mile.

The Cottage does contain traditional low beams and some small steps.

This is a working farm so machinery may be in use during your stay.

Region: Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water Lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Village: Situated a short 5 minute drive or a 25 minute walk downhill is the attractive village of Bassenthwaite. This charming settlement retains its traditional rural feel and boasts a stream which winds through the outskirts of the village in addition to whitewashed Lakeland cottages, a well-maintained green and a real ale inn, full of character. Bassenthwaite Lake offers rolling hillside scenery and remains one of the most picturesque places in England.

Mirehouse - Historic house and gardens set on the Lake shore.
The Lake District Wildlife Park.
The Lakes Distillery producing its own famous local gin and whisky.
Dodd Wood.

Most of the attractions of the wider region are within easy driving distance whilst the quieter Northern Fells are right on your doorstep.

The towns of Cockermouth and Keswick are close by and both host weekly markets and a good range of other amenities.

Great stay!
We really enjoyed our stay, the house was really clean and as described. Perfect for a few nights away with our pup. The house has everything we needed and Matthew was friendly and helpful with questions. The property is in a great location, private enough but within a short drive of the centre of Keswick. Would definitely recommend.

Small.Quirky little cottage. Low beams, uneven walls and floors. Needs some tlc. Loved the garden. Wifi very poor. A little out of the way. Quiet. Fine as a base. Village 25 minutes walk away. We had a lovely weekend with glorious weather. Owners next door, handy if you need to know anything.

Wonderful cottage
Great cottage, garden and views. Enjoyed our short break very much, with trips to cockermouth and Mirehouse in easy reach. Cottage had everything we needed. Thank you!

Wonderful Cozy Farm Cottage
Wonderful and cozy. Modernized but with an old-world feel. The cottage is on a working farm and a bit off the main roads. However, google maps took us directly there. It is up a one-lane road and then a small paved track through the farm. We found it had everything we needed and was a fun location to use for exploring the lake district. I would recommend dinner at the Ravenstone Manor just a few miles down the road. Matthew was a great host. Communicated well and quickly responded. The cottage was very clean.

Lovely little hideaway
I booked this very late and the owner (Matt) was very helpful. A very quaint and beautiful cottage in a very quiet and rural part of Keswick. The pictures are exact to the cottage which is also very clean and has everything you need for any length of stay. A very relaxing and peaceful weekend and we look forward to staying again. Thoroughly recommend. Thank you Matt 😊

Beautiful cottage, very quaint. Clean and modern amenities. Close to most of the Lakes, and very cosy. A few issues; map location points to a cottage at the entrance to farm, not the cottage itself, which is amongst farm sheds. There was no signage explaining you need to drive further to the cottage. Also, a selection of DVDs sitting under the TV but absolutely no device to play DVDs? Also wifi coverage in the house is terrible.

Perfect stay
Such a lovely property for relaxation. Clean, tidy & Matthew was super helpful. We went with our little dog and had a lovely couple of nights of R&R. Co- op only 10 min drive away for any amenities, and the walk around Derwentwater was stunning! We will definately be back - thank you for a lovely stay
