El hotel esta en reparacion, las paredes con moho, es un hotel viejo. No esta remodelado . Las habitaciones amplias pero los muebles viejos . La comida excelente la cena espectacular pero el hotel en si esta deteriorado

The neighborhood was unkept and dirty with no shops or restaurants nearby. While extremely pleasant, the staff spoke no english which made communication a bit of a challenge. The motel was very clean but also very run down.

Old hotel
The water park was only open on Sunday. No hot water till halfway through the week. Over 5 miles to nearest subway stop. We spent a fortune on taxi cabs. Nothing in the area. If you are looking for a quiet out of the way place this might be for you. We wanted to tour the city and the canal but too far away and taxis were expensive

Fui de paseo familiar con niños y a descansar, y fue muy bueno para relajarse, las instalaciones del hotel le hace falta mantenimientos y muchas reparaciones en la parte exterior, por dentro está bonito y limpio igual el cuarto cómodo limpio y acogedor. El personal es muy amable., falta mantenimiento en el área de las piscinas (toboganes) y alrededores.

Al llegar al hotel, no tenían la reserva. Al conseguir una habitación, el aire no enfriaba. Se nota la falta de mantenimiento de las instalaciones. Muchas áreas clausuradas. Lo único bueno fue el parque acuático y el desayuno. Las personas tenían disposición para dar buen servicio.

Not what we thought
Hotel is very run down and needs many repairs. Location is far from everything. Only 1 restaurant and they have same menu all the time. Hard to find someone that speaks English. No hot water in room.

This hotel has been placed on a very attractive terrain. Lot of tress, Jungle paths, waterpark and a lot of other amenities to enjoy. Needs a constant maintenance.

WORST HOTEL EVER
THIS WAS THE WORST HOTEL I EVER BEEN TO, ITS DIRTY, SMELLY AND THE SHEETS VERY DIRTY. I COULD NOT STAY THERE FOR MORE THAN 20 MINUTES. IT LOOKED NOTHING LIKE THE PICS ON THE WEBSITE, WE WERE SO DISSAPOINTED WE HAD TO BOOK ANOTHER HOTEL THE SAME NIGHT. THIS HOTEL NEEDS LOTS OF FIXING UP BEFORE IT CAN BE BOOKED AGAIN.

I'm sorry to say but this has to be the worse hotel I've ever been in. It took me over an hour to get to it. There is no cable and the two or three channels you can hear are not to be seen. There is a telephone installed but it does not work. The bathroom has dirty tiles. There is no indication as to how to get to the lobby. I spent about 15 minutes stepping in and out on of the elevator in order to find the lobby. They do not even have bottled water for sale. The bed and the ac were great but that is all I can come up with on the positive side. This hotel is a definite NO for me and anyone who wants to hear my opinion will hear the same. I'm a very frequent Panama visitor but have yet to find a hotel like the Avalon. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would surely rate it a 1.

CON RESPECTO A LA UBICACION ES MUY ALEJADO DE TODO Y LOS TAXIS SON COSTOSOS, LA ESTANCIA: HABITACIONES COMODAS PERO NO DAN LO QUE OFRECEN EN LA PAGINA COMO LO ES INTERNET Y CABLE, EL SERVICIO NO ES BUENO SOLO ME PARECIO REGULAR EL RESTAURANT, LAS INSTALACIONES NO SON DE CALIDAD COMO LA OFRECEN, ES UN EDF VIEJO Y ESTA MUY DETERIORADO. Abandoned hotel
The room was clean and confortable. But the hotel itself, seems abandonned. I would compare it to a sleazy motel, where you might want to go for a "siesta". Service was very poor. I would suggest that you take this hotel off you expedia site. They changed my room, because they tought I left. I did not leave any luggage, while visiting Panama city. But they did throw away my toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouth wash.

People were friendly and helpful, rooms very big and nice, 2 king size beds. Towels and linens nice and clean. AC worked great and it was very quiet at night. Food in restaurant good. Difficulty getting internet access. Out of water for a while, but they fix things fast. Room key did not work, but got fixed later. Water park in back was open Sunday and it is very nice for kids, it was busy, but friendly atmosphere. Overall a pleasant stay.

The Bates Hotel
This hotel is VERY, VERY run down. The grounds are extemely uncared for, and the halls were kept dark (no lighting). The pool and its surroundings was dirty. The walk ways were littered with falling tree leaves and lems. Also looks as though the green allergy/mold had not been washed away in years. The rooms smeld old and moldy. When we checked in the computer system to the rooms did not work, so we had to be escorted to our room, which by the way had no hot water. The internet service was unbelievably poor if worked at all. It felt like I was in a horror movie (The Shining and/or The Bates Hotel in the movie Psycho). I would NEVER recommend this hotel; not even to my enemies. Their website is TOTALLY. to say the least misleading.

Terrible place. I don't even know where to start. The hotel is quite old and smells of mildew. That alone is not enough to write a negative review IMO. Where this hotel really misses the mark is on customer service. The front desk was extremely rude. Every small request we made (such as requesting the phone number for a nearby restaurant) was met with dirty looks and smirks. The hotel's restaurant has an awful menu, and worse service. Wifi and AC were promised, but neither worked. On top of all of this, the location is quite inconvenient. Far away from the city. I hardly ever write reviews, but I had to make some comments about this hotel. Don't stay there. Please!

The staff was nice.
If you are going just for the water park, DON'T There isn't one that is in operation. I don't know when the pictures were taken, 10,15, or 20 years ago. There are a lot of slides but no water on them. Most of the staff speaks Spanish. The hotel does smell like mildew. If you are just looking for price and a comfortable bed it is ok.

We felt avalon has its glory in the past, but these days they can't keep it up, rooms are ok and comfortable, but all the facilities are outdated... I thank the staff for all their help, but I don't feel staying here again, besides that it is farther than I though.

Beware of this Property!
This hotel simply did not deliver. It was in the middle of no where. It would have cost us US30 each way to reach downtown plus at least 30 minutes. It was 30 minutes from the city airport and another US25.00. The "resort" is run down and passed it's prime. Albeit we were there in the off season, we could tell as soon as we entered that we had made a mistake in booking it. The rooms were very large and clean BUT there was no hot water! This is a US50 to US70 night property, don't pay twice as much as we did! The internet was also down so we couldn't even call to make other arrangements...needless to say, we were disappointed and lodged a complain with Expedia to review the hotel rating.

Poor choice for a hotel.
First the hotel is too far from the Airport, about 30 mins and it cost me $33.00 USD for a taxi to get to the hotel and $ 30 USD from the hotel to the Airport because they do not provide a free shuttle. AC worked for about half an hour, next thing the water was just a little warm. Well don't talk about the complimentary breakfast, that was bread - white or whole wheat with butter and you could order something from the kitchen, which when I did, let me just say I had to just get up and leave the table without eating it. I do not which to say any more because it is bringing back too much bad feelings.

Very poor service. Hotel seems to be going out of business. Room keys not provided as front desk clerk had to open the room for us. No Airconditioning in our frist room so we moved to another room... Electricity went out then no water for about 6 hours,,,,,,, Need i say more??

Huge rooms, nice view, good price.
Great but key card machine broke and could not issue keys to anybody. Had to ask staff to open room every time. Internet went down 2nd day but they offered a cellular internet stick for those with a PC. AC worked great, hot water worked. Overall, happy with stay.

This hotel is located 25 kilomeres away from Panama City,And you have to pass trough Miguelito a favela in panama city from the airport,one of the most dangerous places in Latin america.Dont ever think about spending money at this hotel. horrible.

My stay at the Avalon
The Avalon hotel just to be a classy place where you can spect to find good service and confort, now, the hotel is lacking maintenance, the restaurant food is terrible, there are no phones in the room to comunicate with the outside world, just within the premises, and the pools, that are part of a water park, as well as and individual ones, are not being use or kept. Its a shame because, is located in the midle of a park sorrounded by trees and nature in a very private area.There are no signs to indicate wich way is the exit to the main road, so is very easy to get lost. Will I ever stay at the hotel again?, I believe this was my last time.

Quedamos asombrados por el deterioro del hotel. En las pasillas habia muchas manchas en el techo de los micro-organismos que se forma en lugares donde humedad se encuentra por mucho tiempo. Los muebles en los cuartos no huelen bien. El cuarto en si era espacioso y limpio, y el bano tenia defectos menores. Pero mas que todo fue la falta di limpesa al rededor de la piscina. No vamos a recomendar a nadie este hotel.

zwaar onderkomen hotel
het hotel is erg verouderd en erg vochtig, hier en daar bemerk je de zwarte vochtige plekken op de plafonds of muren, zelfs in een gedeelte van het restaurant dicht bij de voeding overal op de verdiepingen in de gangen stonden er luchtontvochters te draaien de kamers ruiken naar dit vocht het zwembad en de glijbanen zijn helemaal niet zelfs het uitzicht van het hotel zijn helemaal niet zoals de foto's aantonen op internet het is echt een schande dat dit hotel aan mensen wordt aangeboden, dit zou geschrapt moeten worden of op zijn minst onderzocht moeten worden opdat jullie daar ook de conclusie kunnen uittrekken het is om te huilen als je ziet dat je daar als laatste hotel waar je veel van verwacht, zeker na het aandoen van een best western hotel, als afsluiter van je lange reis wilt gebruiken.

Clean, Roomy, Safe, but Needs Repairs
THe hotel is on a beautiful hill and easy to find. The staff are very helpful--we were very late (well past midnight) and the concierge waited for us. The hotel is clean, but needs minor repairs to look more inviting. Breakfast is plentiful but only so-so. The rooms are gigantic and the AC works! PRice is right, so take that into account.

Avalon - for resting - customer service good
You have to take taxi (15-20$ one way), if you are coming first time to this hotel. It takes around 30 minutes, busy times even more to come to the hotel from Panama City. There isnt shopping possibility nearby. It seems to be popular hotel among locals in summer time because there is small water park for families and especially for children but autumn was very quiet. If you are afraid of high places this hotel is not for you. Amazing view from tenth floor. Also asthmatic persons should look for more new hotel. Food is very good in hotel restaurant and prices little bit under average if you compare them in prices in Europe. It must have been very georgious and beautiful building when it was built and you still can feel the atmosphere but nowadays its rather old although personnel takes good care of place and cleanliness. Very good customer service, they can handle you well and some of hotel staff speaks english good.
