Best Western Plus Carlyle Inn
Top 3 star hotel and quite good value for money. Good central position very near Beverly Hills and Hollywood. Rooms small but clean and functional. WiFi was free but did not work in the room on the 4th floor - it did on the 1st floor breakfast room area. Breakfast was included in the price and was quite good. Garage parking was available at a convenient price. Recommended.

Good value for the area. Walking toward Beverly Hills takes you to nice clean areas, but walking southwest, the commercial areas become dirty, with some sketchy characters around. Hotel itself was clean and comfortable, staff were good, and once the renovations are finished, their courtyard would be a decent place to enjoy their happy hour.

The front desk on April 6 and 7 (two different people) were both just as apathetic and lacking customer service. I asked for a receipt and I didn't get one, they didn't have water ON THE PROPERTY for me to purchase, their front desk phone doesn't work and their email bounces as "incorrect". I asked for 2 bathrobes that were delivered OPEN and in hand. Disgusting. The website did not mention any repairs being done on the property - their whole lounge/ garden area was closed and there was no care for appearance. Pooe wifi signal. When we checked out, the clerk was not there, but he had left a woman who did not speak English at the front desk. It was a waste of money. No breakfast included (we knew that, but they weren't offering any for purchase either), the room smelled stale, the carpet in our room was so dirty, and the pillows were lumpy.

This was an absolute NIGHTMARE. I checked in with Morgan after a long flight from the east coast, she told me she could accommodate an early check-in for $25 per room. After paying the fee she gave me the key cards to the 2 rooms on the 2nd floor. We shared a small elevator up with a maintenance worker and their cart. At the 2nd floor we saw there is no internal hallway. Motel set up. We enter the first room and it had a heavy smell of mold, forcing one to breathe out of their mouth. I left the room with my belongings and headed to the second room - hoping that it was just the room and I could ask for a new one. But, the second room was just as bad. I returned to the front desk, within 10 minutes of receiving my key and explained that I wouldn’t be able to stay and requested a refund. Morgan said they couldn’t help me. I asked for the manager, she said they weren’t there. I asked if she could get them on the phone, she said no. She then went to a back room and came back with a piece of paper that had the email address of the general manager they called “Oscar”. I left the facility. Emailed Oscar, called Expedia, and American Express. Expedia tried for 3 days to get the manager on the phone. They never responded. This is the worst experience I have ever had. BEWARE!!!!

It’s unfortunate that the rooms don’t have a microwave. This hotel has been undergoing remodeling construction for some time. This was my second stay in the past six months. Can’t really fault the noise for that, but the properly is decent and it’s around the corner from where my daughter lives. It’s been very convenient.

My stay at the Carlyle Inn was great for the price. Staff was friendly. They have parking at $30 a night but I used street parking with meter. There is a Walgreens within walking distance and good places to eat. Try “Pizzeria Sei” so delicious. No microwave available in room only in lobby.

I arrived at the location and was given a room on the first floor. I walked to the room and found the door to be cracked open. I tested the door and confirmed it was open and dark inside. I was not comfortable going inside. There was an employee serving alcohol just steps away from this room. I asked him about it and he just told me to go back to the front desk. I go back to the front desk where I was told it was safe neighborhood but they would call someone to go in the room with me. The person they were calling was the guy serving alcohol which I told them he wasn’t helpful and come to find out he didn’t have a walkie talkie. The front desk employee went to the room with me, she was even hesitant to go inside. Once inside and the lights on, found out the room was going through maintenance. Went back to the front desk and was moved to another room, everything at the front desk too a long time as well. I had to stand there each time for about 20-30 minutes. I get to my new room and the room was adequate. Parking in the structure is strange and you can be blocked in if you end up in the second row. I had to park in handicap one night because all the regular spots were taken. The area around the hotel is not very nice but that is LA for you. I probably wouldn’t stay here again but it’s not the worst place I’ve ever stayed. Also, i was there for 4 nights and never got a cleaning service the whole time, might have been an error on my side when at the front desk checking in.

The hotel is lovely, overall clean and conveniently located to shopping/dining area. The rooms are nice but somewhat outdated. The extra charge for early/late check in/out is probably an LA thing but i did not appreciate it. I've traveled in many places around the world and this is the first time i was asked to pay for early check in. I understand why but it adds to the bill. The main problem with my room was that it was not really sound proof which made it difficult to fall asleep. I heard people walking in and out in the lobby, talking and taking showers in the room next to me. To provide a decent place to rest at night is one of the functions of any hotel. It was lacking and Carlyle and that's why i gave it 3 stars plus the outdated interior. The service desk person was very nice and welcoming.

Rooms are comfortable and set up well. The beds are mostly comfortable but the mattress’s are squeaky. The staff is nice and the location is very good if your having any medical procedure in the area

This was a great place to stay in Mid Wilshire. It was centrally located and easy to catch nearby buses to city attractions. The hotel is undertaking some renovations, which will make it even nicer.

Lots of city noise and Construction
It is a cute hotel. Rooms are nice but beds are creaky. Our first room was stuffy and then when fan was on it was like a wind storm. We extended for medical tests and moved rooms. That room had ants. We returned from dinner with ants on the bed and in bathroom. Luckliy they had another room. The other solution was to spray our room right before we were going to sleep (unacceptable.) Our 3rd room did not have hot water. It was fixed by 9:30 PM . Just between a long day, ants and not hot water when I wanted to shower, it was frustrating. Staff is very nice and do their best to resolve problems. Unfortunately, "garden room" was under construction and made for lots of extra noise starting at 8 am. Windows in rooms need to be better. You can hear the sirens from the street all night.

Good value for surrounding area. Free coffee and daily beer/wine happy hour were a plus. Gym was the size of a small bedroom and not very conducive to working out. Otherwise, rooms were clean and staff friendly.

Room and staff were pleasant, the structure and outdoor area were not as pictured, some sort of yellow tape and construction, not much of a common area to enjoy.

Convenient and comfortable
The room was small but very comfortable. Clean and updated decor. Bed and pillows were also comfortable. Nice surprise that they have a happy hour and provide 2 drink tickets per person. Unfortunately we didn’t have an opportunity to take advantage due to our schedule. We were there for sporting events and needed a place between USC and UCLA it was a good location for that purpose but there isn’t much nearby to go and have a meal or get a coffee. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The $30/day parking garage was convenient. Lower level even better because it’s behind a locked gate. Only complaint was the faucet needed some repair- hard to turn off and the bathroom was a pretty tight fit for two tall Adults. There was construction going on but we never heard anything and it didn’t effect our stay. I would stay here again. It’s a bit expensive for the small room but so is everything else in the area.

We enjoyed our stay. First, the young lady named Jessica working the front desk was extremely professional and kind. But people working that early in the morning outside our room and hearing speaker phone conversations was a definite downer. The parking also was challenging.
