“We loved the claw foot bath tub and caretaker and his dog were both very friendly. He greeted us warmly as we arrived and was super sweet about us being late checking in. The room was comfy and we were able to rest up. The house is charming and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was nice and light. Located close to all the good historic places we wanted to see. “The Gadsden Hotel in Douglas is certainly one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in. Founded in 1907, it has room numbers hand-carved into its doors, a spacious lobby with polished stone pillars and stairs, a stunning stained large glass window with a landscape theme inspired by the Sonoran desert, misters that subtlely pump sweet spice scents into the air, and spacious rooms and public areas. “Great little cottage, nicely appointed and as we are hikers-walkers, the back and forth to downtown was no issue. The back courtyard was an oasis. Front porch perfect for happy hour. The negative in the reviews I had read prior to our check in were accurate in only one respect. While we slept fine. the bed does indeed have a slightly sunken middle!
