Caratteristico Pub inglese gestito da Indiani;
in viaggio in auto verso le Highlands, dopo il tunnel arrivare a Maidstone è breve. atmosfera calda, in un pub caratteristico. Ovvio che se vi piacciono le catene alberghiere tipo Mercury non fa per voi. Se vi piacciono le case di legno inglesi Vi dovrebbe piacere anche questo.

I was kept up all night by people partying in the halls and having loud drunk sex till 12:30am. Felt unsafe to leave the hotel room to talk to staff, tried calling the desk 3 times but there was no pick up. Horrid experience.

I definitely booked a room with a bath,which we were given after reminding at reception, there is no lift , so reception took our suitcases up for us,several flights of stairs and landings.They booked a taxi for us for next morning. Although the menu was limited my request for blue cheese sauce instead of peppercorn was forthcoming and the food was tasty. We were offered drinks on the house for our long wait.The whole area is being refurbished.Staff are helpful.Bed comfortable. The room we were in needs updating, broken bathroom door and toilet /toilet brush had not been checked before we went into the room. Not too noisy with doors like some hotels.

On arrival there was no one at the reception and waited more than 10m for someone to come to us, the location does not have a lift, the room looked old, tv super small, and yhe worse part of our stay was that the RADIATOR was not working despite us calling them to tell this issue they did not fix it, the room was so cold and the customer service poor. It more an hostal than an hotel, we were coming late and as we did not have a key to enter the building we have to wait on the cold long for someone to let is in. Honestly the most horrible experience wont recommend this place to anyone, please go to a hotel an avoid this place at all cost

Overall the hotel was pretty average. I stayed in a single room for one night. The noise coming from the neighboring rooms was very audible, but, luckily, it did not extend to late hours. Bathroom door would get jammed mid way, so it was tricky to get that room closed.

Very dated property that has not had a penny spent on it for 20 years ..Room was dirty bathroom mouldy and run down shower was blocked and bed was on its last legs as rocked when lying on it ...Do not stay here unless its £25 per night as thats all its worth

The cooked breakfast was only adequate and significantly overpriced for £12. A £12 breakfast should include mushrooms, black pudding or a salmon option.

Very unsettling.
The main reason for the poor review is the absence of any staff members at check in and checkout. We had to wait on arrival. Had drinks at the bar of the hotel, which were wrong and therefore almost undrinkable. On our return from our evening out we were greeted by a security guard. However, after several minutes of our arrival there was a huge violent confrontation in the room next door which spilled out onto the corridor and we feared for our own safety. We barely managed to get any sleep as the perpetrator returned some time later and that was capped off with an altercation in the car park, which we backed onto. I waited in the morning to feedback but there was nobody to help us.

The hotel is an old tired building, but this was made up for by the excellent service. Breakfast was good. Ample parking.

Tired but Lovely Hotel.
A lovely looking Hotel, but the fixtures and fittings are tired. No shortage of cobwebs and dirty windows inside and out. Public areas Carpets were really dirty. Limited Menu but the food was really good. The Hotel has recently changed hands, so we expect the new owners will get to grips with these things. Otherwise comfortable and very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble for them.

Comfortable, clean and nice staff
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food I had was average but sufficient. I found the hotel clean comfortable but feel it could do with an update. Overall it was convenient and suited my needs.

Well it was clean ish, the service was just a tad above non existent. The room was super compact, think like a big lunch box, the carpark was full. Probably wouldn't stay here again , ever.

Brief stay
The overall experience was good. The room we had, nr28, had a couple of issues. The toilet seat needed fixing and the shower drips constantly. The strip light in the bedroom isn’t particularly nice and the Tv remote refused to turn off the tv so had to switch it off at the wall. Apart from the above would book again if in the area. Hope this helps.

Nice looking exterior, room was small and stuffy. Needed to air it out when I arrived. Asked for a bath and was told I’d have a room with one but ended up not being the case. Limited power points but the wifi was good. Room wasn’t cleaned during the day but we mustn’t have put the sign out in time (had it on the door at 11am when we went out).

Very tired looking hotel, way over-priced.
This is possibly one of the worst, most depressing hotels I have had the Mis pleasure of staying in for quite some time. The hotel is not really a hotel (or not at least where we were housed) but a room in an old house opposite the hotel which is really just a HMO. The room was small, tired looking with 80’s furniture and decor. The mattress was old and needed replacing at the shower the size of a small telephone box. The hall to the room was also very dull and uninspiring which is the ‘hotel’ was priced at £40 for the room I wouldn’t be leaving this review but we paid £78 and that didn’t even include breakfast - which was a further £15 each per head or £12 if we paid upon arrival. The only appealing quality was its location and the fact it had a 24hr bar - which we didn’t use as it looked very uninspiring. The staff were all also slightly odd that we met when we arrived and another couple had an issue with their payment. Our payment also hasn’t been taken ahead at our booking the room stage with hotels.com which is odd for the website and just generally we felt that the ‘hotel’ was just a cash cow for the owners with no investment or though about the comfort of the guests. When we told local people we were staying at ‘that’ hotel they said it was the worse in town but when we looked on line, others nearby looked even more uninspiring so who knows what that says about Maidstone? This is a budget hotel which should be priced according!

Hi Chris,Sorry to hear that you were not happy with your stay. I was one of the three members of staff on reception that night that distinctly remembers you checking in. A little unkind to call us 'odd'. I think you were miffed that you thought you had paid for the room and seemed quite adamant, even though we told you with expedia bookings that the hotel collects money upon arrival. It even said so on your booking confirmation. We were full that night and endeavoured to get you sorted even though we were dealing with another couple before you, who you mentioned whose card had declined. They were very nice and were patient whilst we waited for the payment to go through. Despite being full you were the only one who complained about the room. I guess we can't win them all. You mention both the hallway and the bar were 'uninspiring', perhaps you could suggest what would be inspiring to you. We are always happy for suggestions. The breakfast is extra but fairly priced. Again it does say when you booked, it was room only. Thanks for your feedback!

This hotel looks nice in the pictures and I stayed for 1 night there as I was in the area. It was cheap in comparison to others but there are reasons for that. There was no one at reception when I arrived and the barman had to come across and check me in. The room was dreadful! It was about 130 sq ft which included the 'bathroom' with a full or single bed. The bed was very weird and was wobbling around. The mattress felt like it was about 50 years old and was sagging and very uncomfortable. There was obviously no room to move in the room with about 14" at one side to be able to access the bed and up against a wall on the other side. The 'bathroom' was dreadful as well although it had been tiled at some stage within the last 20 years I guess. The faucets on the basin were old, dirty and the basin looked old and grubby. The shower was almost impossible to use and was over a tub that is about 4' long. The faucets for the tub and shower were old, very grimy and looked like they are from the '60s. Hot water took a long while to come through and as there are faucets rather than a mixer almost impossible to get a decent temperature. Water pressure was practically none existent and after struggling with it I finally had to give up and not shower. Restaurant has an online menu which is nothing to do with what they actually had available. I had the roast lamb which in itself was OK but not great, and the vegetable were overcooked with soggy roast potatoes. All tasted microwaved. AVOID

Excellent value for money, staff were very friendly and helpful, big rooms with all the facilities you’d expect. Bit outdated but as expected from the photos and reflected within the price. Room was warm given it was -5 outside!
