Hello Sandy - Thank you for staying with us. It is me, Rahel, the owner who received you. Whereas we value feedbacks greatly, we do not believe what you wrote is accurate or fair. We have served many groups and families with and without kids for almost 8 years now. As stated in our profile, the entire house and backyard as pictured are available for our guests, except the garage, which is used for storing house supplies, cleaning materials, etc. The house has large double doors. We leave one door latched rather than swinging around. But, you could have unlatched that door too if you wished, although that would have been totally unnecessary. We never had any complaint regarding this issue since we started business 8 years ago. As for decorative items in the house, you could have asked us to remove any items you did not want there. We are only minutes away and could have taken them to the garage or closet. The kitchen cabinets have plenty of kitchenware, probably more than any family would need. I am not sure what else you wanted. We always advise our guests to call or text us if they need anything specific, ahead of time if possible. A great majority of our guests do not need anything else. But for those few who do, we are normally there in minutes. Finally, we wish the price was lower too, except that the cost of maintaining such a property in the Bay Area is very high and we have to pay significant third party fees. Thank you for staying with us. We take feedback seriously. However, much of what Sarah said is simply inaccurate or unfair. First, as far as we know, her party enjoyed the pool like everybody else. We are not sure why she said she didn’t use it even once. Security cameras do not lie. Second, we did not advertise a heated pool. Like most house pools, our pool is not heated. She could have clarified that before booking as others do. Unfortunately, she didn’t. In our profile, we have asked guests to contact us for any questions, special needs, or requests before booking. This is to make sure that the house meets their needs. The water heater is not electric as she falsely stated. It is a new, high-efficiency gas water heater professionally installed just two months ago. Of course, like any house, you will have to wait a few seconds for hot water to flow. I am not sure you can do anything about it. All shower heads are standard and professionally installed. She could have contacted us if there was an issue, but she didn’t. We shampoo carpets regularly. In the six years we have been running this business, one thing our guests say repeatedly is how clean our house is. In any case, I do hope other property owners read this. We certainly do not wish to host anyone like Sarah who leaves trash in their wake. It is just not worth it. We changed our schedule to accommodate her last-minute request to check in early and this is what we got. Thanks. --Rahel

Thank you for staying with us, Noah. We are always grateful to our customers. As you know, a house like this needs multiple people to run. From management to cleaning, we have quite a few people who handle different tasks. Therefore, it is not always possible to meet everyone. As for the house tour, we like to show our customers where things are. This is a big house with several facilities. That way, customers do not have to spend time searching for certain items. And this is stated on our profile. In your case, despite our showing, we had multiple calls, one near midnight. The showing is meant to avoid such things. In those rare cases where someone just wants a key in a box, this house is probably not for them. We leave many towels inside rooms and cabinets. It is more than enough even for large groups. I am not sure why it was not enough for just the two of you. But we could have brought more if we knew. In any case, I am glad you had a good time here. As you said, we went beyond usual to accommodate you, including allowing you to check-in early and waiting for several hours. Thanks. --Rahel

Hello Steven - First of all thank for staying with us. We appreciate it. Having read your review, we are not sure what to make of it. You seem to have been very happy and appreciative when you left and never said anything to us for help. With a 1.2 million dollar home, we have been serving so many grateful guests from all parts of the world without significant issues for some time now. That's why we are Premier Partner of VRBO and Superhost of another booking site - which only a few rental homes achieve. We always treat and serve all our guests the same way. We receive all in person and show them all bedrooms, bathrooms, the kitchen and even the outside, making sure that things are good and in order. We ask for any special needs from customers. Occasionally we get special request or two, which we provide when possible, even sometimes buying on the spot. We didn't hear anything from you. You held a birthday reception in our house involving locals without telling us and without paying for it - as our guests normally do - and we didn't even raise the issue. The fire pit gas of course runs out when used for extended period of time. Although that doesn't happen that often, we do have extra cylinders in the garage when needed. The pool is cleaned once a week by a professional cleaner (not twice as you said). And the automatic pool cleaner runs daily for 3-4 hours to make sure that the pool stays clean. We upgrade our house periodically. In fact we just had new shower doors and new floors in our bathrooms when you arrived. You might have seen a tape on one tile which the contractor left for drying. We shampoo carpets regularly. I am a clean freak myself, that's why our guests write how clean the house is. All beds were properly made as always, one of which was being used by your daughter immediately. The pictures shown in our profile were taken by a booking site about a year ago. What you see is what you get. Many even comment how familiar the house looks. Finally, in any home, it is always possible to find a thing or two minor issues, but taking it way beyond is, I think, unfair and uncalled for. I hope readers note.
